the 8255 and 8655 are the same thing but 8655 has the cdma modem added in so it will work with Verizon i wouldn't expect to see this turn up with speeds at 1.2-1.5 i would be fine at 1.0 snapdragon processors are fast enough by themselves no need for the extra battery drain and with the possibility that this could come with a small battery i would rather have the reduced size but same speed with better battery management

I just hope this doesn't have the /INIT problem that some Desire HD's are having. That would really ruin my day. :x

I don't know if it's just me, but along with all of these awesome specs that are supposed to accompany this phone, it's the little things that count, such as the volume rocker on the left side (I use my phone with my left hand), the capacitive home, menu, back, and search buttons, the order of said buttons, and the sleek look of the overall device. If it turns out the volume rocker is on the right side like the Evo, then it won't be a deal breaker.

I am having such a hard time waiting for this phone since my mom's Storm (the original) completely died and she got the Droid X. I have to say the screen on the X is SO crisp and awesome. Then I look at my phone (looks at screen and shakes head) lol.

Reading through 53 pages last night was like reading a novel. It had suspense, some brief let down, and then a happy happy ending. It caused me to register just so i can join in on the hype.
My bb storm died completely a few days ago and I have been in the stone age without a phone. My plan is to go get the x today, enjoy it for a few weeks and then pay the $35 restocking fee. basically renting the x for 3-4 weeks until the dinc hd comes out. sound like a good plan?

If you wantto rent a phone until it comes out, how about getting the DInc.... Then when you get the DInc HD you won't be switching from Motoblur to Sense.......

By the way I am so excited about this phone I probably won't root it......at least for a little while :)
wow i like the way you think. i was so into the x the last few months that i didnt even think about getting myself comfortable with sense first... and this is why i wanted to post my plan ......so it can be improved

I am surprised how many people have Storms (1&2) that are moving to the Droid Incredible HD. Blackberry really dropped the ball with the Storm. I bet had RIM brought out something competitive this fall they might have retained more customers. As it stands now...the gap between the many many Storm1 &2 users that have contracts coming up this month and the release of the rumored S3 - will result in Droid picking up thousands of more customers.

Just a poll...how many people on here have a Blackberry Storm?

I have the Storm2 - but origionally purchased the Storm1 on release day 11/21/2008 and VZW gave me a Storm2 a couple of months ago after countless S1 replacements for defective hardware. Can't wait to cash in my NE2 this month on the DINC HD!!!

This is in no way a criticism, but I just gotta say that these statements embody ultimate geekiness. I love it. I love being apart of this community. I love that there are others out there just as crazy as I am about phones and technology. So much so that we even form battle plans and training to prepare for the ultimate experience in Android phones! You'd think we were training for the Olympics or something.

If i were you, i would wait till we know 100% that the DINC HD comes out this month, because if you dont give the pnone back to verizon before the 30 days than your stuck with the x. Or you pay the $35 re-stock fee and go back to the stone age phone. But hey the dx is still one hell of a phone if you decide to keep it!

I had a Storm 2 before I purchased my Droid. I actually liked the phone itself, but was disappointed in the OS. That, and the lack of customization. But I loved the SurePress. Much better than the Storm 1. Just had a good feel to it if you ask me, and I was able to just tear through some texting and emails on that thing.

I made the mistake of getting the Storm 2 instead of the Moto Droid.

Went like this:

XV6700, Moto Q, Pearl, Curve, Storm 2, Droid Eris, Droid Incredible

I brought all the hype from RIM, what a let down. I traded my Storm 2 for the Eris staright up, then sold the Eris for 250 dollars and purchased the DInc w/o a contract.

Best phone has been the Incredible by far, but I wonder what phone I would have now if I had made the decision to get the original Droid......

as stated ..storm one user here from day one. although ive replaced it several times i still have it, but after a few screen cracks and screen usage failure I am done...
I've been ready to switch to droid since the x came out. (I have been eligible for a phone since May I think) The only things that held me back were BBM and the fact that I was broke. A few weeks ago my urge to get an x spiked again. Then halloween weekend when asking a guy at a bar about his x, he said he loved it but was upset that he got it, because he had insider info that told him a new droid was coming out that would blow the x away. He told me to wait.

This lead me to the droid t2 and extreme excitement until I found out, that I'd be waiting for awhile. Then last night I stumbled onto this thread and I'm set on the incHD.
Basically I've been just waiting for the right time to make the switch

Haha I'm just glad to be back in the game after settling for the pos storm for sooo long

I'm with you. Even for all that speed, if you can only use the phone for a couple of hours at a time, what's the point of getting it.
