New Findings and Fixes thread for Droid 2.0.1 OTA updates

You guys do realize that Google Navigation is in beta and not a final release version right? Complaining at this point is like complaining you have issues after taking a car from the factory before it's done being built. Yeah the car might start and drive, but your seatbelts and/or radio might not be installed. Wait till the app is in a release version before complaining about it's lack of features. Not saying they'll add what you're saying is missing but be patient and thankful Google was nice enough to release it in an unfinished state.
You realize that you don't buy a car from the factory until it's finished, right? Navigation was one of Verizon's top selling points for the Droid. Expecting it to be a finished product is pretty damn reasonable in my opinion. If it's beta, not advertised as such, you have every right to complain.

Anyway, making known what features you want is the only way to get them added.

I think the phone is much quicker now...I run GDE home replacement and it works amazing now - before it was a little laggy.

Here are my two issues:

1. When I plug in the charger (the one that came with the phone) and I am holding the phone vertically it will start charging, and then I can lay it horizontally. BUT if I am holding the phone horizontally and I plug in the charger it doesn't start charging.....anyone else having this issue???

2. When the charging meter reaches 90% it stops moving and just sits there...makes me feel like it stopped charging even though the lightning bolt is still there...

My Droid Bricked after OTA update!!

Last night when my Droid informed my it was going to update its operating system and restart itself that was good news, I said ok the phone shut down and went into brick mode. I thought maybe it was working so I let it go but its been 12 hours now.......Another phone is already on its way.

I'm having a contact 'issue' now too. I posted in another area, but now I'm thinking this may have come about because of the upgrade?

I sent myself some pictures I wanted to use for contacts. I saved the pix to the SD card, then went there to attach them to contacts. All was well until I went to check them out in the contacts - and I can't find those contacts anywhere! What's up with that?

Holy crap! I just went back to check out my contact list again - and is says "You don't have any contacts to display:.. WHAT?

My favorites are there, but nothing else.

I think I'm going nuts! Contacts found way to SD card!

Ok, I went to contacts, where it told me I had none (all of a sudden). I did the 'Import/Export" thing, and for the hell of it, hit the "Export in from SD card" (because, what did I have to lose?). Well, low and behold it starts importing 130 contacts. The missing contacts! Now, how they got on the SD card is beyond me, but they're back, and I'm a damned happy camper!!! :icon_ banana:

WOW!!! My DROID updated at 5:40 AM this morning. I just read thru this entire thread. I have checked for every issue being mentioned here, and I am not experiencing a single one of them. :icon_ banana:

Life is good.

Well, aside from that 'glitch' with my contact list, I haven't had any problems. Then again, I've only had my phone since last Monday and have only downloaded two apps. I've not had enough time to do huge customizations - yet. I'm still pressing and groping and, uh, cussing, as I learn how to make this thing jump through its hoops.

I downloaded the manual, and even that doesn't cover everything. I LOVE this forum!

I run an app called Task Panel, and basically it's like task killer only it will stop running all apps with a single push of the button. Yes, I know it's not necessary. You've got your theory's, I've got mine.

Anyway I noticed since the up date the available amount of app memory is no where near what it was since before the update. Where I was seeing 110 mb on the app memory I'm now seeing 80 mb tops.

I also noticed that when all apps are running the app memory isn't dropping as low as it did previously. Like it's doing an even better job of managing memory.

My scrolling on the browser and facebook seems to be WORSE than it was. VERY choppy.

I'm shocked more people aren't talking about this. This is a MAJOR problem and a huge step backwards. I hope this is brought to light and fixed immediately.

Maybe you just need to reboot....

I tried the old browser and its fine..... If you use dolphin browser you will like it better... has pinch zoom and better interface.
I second this. My browser was extremely slow. Even just to load the google search page (default) took nearly a minute. HOWEVER, after I rebooted the phone, it actually seems faster than before the update. YAY!

If that happens again.. A workaround is to go into contacts and uncheck "mycontacts" and check one of the small groups and hit done so you only see that group.
Now go back into display again and check "mycontacts"... don't think it matters if you have any of the other ones checked.

Somehow that refreshes it to see them all again.

Can anyone confirm that they can still connect to a Cisco based corporate wifi network after the update. I tried to connect to two separate sites, and I can't after the 2.0.1 update. All other wifi connections work (if not better) with the update. The corporate networks use WPA2 security as do the networks I was trying.

Expecting a BETA to be a finished product is never "pretty damn reasonable" lol. I'm guessing it's safe to say you aren't in the software industry?

Sorry for the bad car analogy... let me put it in simpler terms so you're not confused.

You buy anything. It has a stamp on it that says "not finished yet". Chances are it's not finished yet. Make sense?

As far as navigation being a selling point... are you unable to navigate with the beta version? Or does it just not have all the bells and whistles a FINISHED software product has?

Also, if you want to make known your feature requests try the appropriate place. Google is great at taking advice on the sites they set up... not so great when voiced in an off topic forum thread.

I completely agree. Not only the not being able to save favorites, but I have been having several issues with the GPS not knowing where I am at and unable to navigate me. Ditto, I will not go buy a half-assed car and cetaintly wont PAY to test drive a car. We are allowed to complain, in fact, that would help for more updates. Overall, I am pleased with the Droid
