New Findings and Fixes thread for Droid 2.0.1 OTA updates

You guys do realize that Google Navigation is in beta and not a final release version right? Complaining at this point is like complaining you have issues after taking a car from the factory before it's done being built. Yeah the car might start and drive, but your seatbelts and/or radio might not be installed. Wait till the app is in a release version before complaining about it's lack of features. Not saying they'll add what you're saying is missing but be patient and thankful Google was nice enough to release it in an unfinished state.
You realize that you don't buy a car from the factory until it's finished, right? Navigation was one of Verizon's top selling points for the Droid. Expecting it to be a finished product is pretty damn reasonable in my opinion. If it's beta, not advertised as such, you have every right to complain.

Anyway, making known what features you want is the only way to get them added.

Expecting a BETA to be a finished product is never "pretty damn reasonable" lol. I'm guessing it's safe to say you aren't in the software industry?

Sorry for the bad car analogy... let me put it in simpler terms so you're not confused.

You buy anything. It has a stamp on it that says "not finished yet". Chances are it's not finished yet. Make sense?

As far as navigation being a selling point... are you unable to navigate with the beta version? Or does it just not have all the bells and whistles a FINISHED software product has?

Also, if you want to make known your feature requests try the appropriate place. Google is great at taking advice on the sites they set up... not so great when voiced in an off topic forum thread.

Google Product Ideas

I totally get what you meant. Main selling point of the droid was the Google Nav, maybe because its free and no need to pay $10 to VZW every month. If you think about it, the entire device is "beta", a protocol that will only get better and better with updates and upcoming droid devices. Perfect example is the Blackberry Storm, 1st one sucked and the second one is a lot better with less issues. Hopefully the GPS will get better

Can someone who got the update try this? On the lock screen I swing the volume icon to the left and it mutes the phone like before. However, doing it again no longer unmutes the phone. I now need to use the volume buttons to unmute. Could this possibly have been on purpose? Can anyone verify? Thanks!
I just checked it and once mutes it do it again and it unmutes the phone

I saw a document posted on BGR that said Verizon knew of the problem with the phone staying on while charging but 2.0.1 hasn't fixed this problem for me. Did it fix the problem for anyone else or did Verizon just not resolve that issue in this update? Thanks.
If you hit the button that turns on and off the screen while you're charging, the screen will turn off for me.

i just attached the phone to a power source with the phone off and it powered back on. so i powered the phone off again and it turned itself back on.

doesn't appear to be fixed.

the new auto brightness setting kind of blows. it's less sensitive now. and the home dock is still not reporting weather.
The home doc does not report the weather on mine either. Also, with the clock showing in HomeDoc mode where it looks like an alarm clock, you can't lock the phone. I had no problem doing this before, and I can't understand why they'd change this, but now you have to unlock the phone to get the alarm clock to show, which means the phone is unlocked all night long.

Update seems very snappy and fast all around. However, the browser took a major hit in performance. I used to love showing off how smooth it was, but now when scrolling around it's VERY clunky and jittery.
Me too, browser scrolling is abysmal. Bad google, BAD!

I like the new lock screen setup, although the timeout for it is a bit shorter than I would like.
heh, I noticed that too. It's good that it time's out quick in case you bump the button in your pants, I assume that's why they did it, but it is pretty damned short. This should be a setting for the user to adjust.

Maybe its just me or my Hotmail account. But it doesnt seem to synch that well. I go to my inbox on my PC, read all, delete whatever I need to delete and even after a few hours, when I check my hotmail on my Droid they still show as unread or the ones I deleted still shows. Plus, everytime I reboot the phone, it tells me I have emails when I dont. Weird!

Anyone else with email issues?

Will I still get an OTA notification from VZW even after I manually updated it? Do they know that I already update it?

When the the firmware on your phone is matched the the updated firmware the update will not happen OTA... so no you won't get the update again if you've manually updated.

Has nothing to do with functionality, but the off center clock on the new lock screen annoys the hell out of me.

Does anybody feel the quick vibrate when unlocking is much stronger now? I may just be hallucinating.

Post manual update - Did that tuesday night.

Today my phone has not woken up twice after getting it out of my pocket. Had to pull the battery to restart.

Anyone else have this happen post manual update?

I have not received update yet,I have a terrible echo on calls at other end of call, many complaints from friends,I hope this fixes this.

Droid update!!!

:icon_ banana:Mine came last night at midnight and its pretty good. Seems like the touch screen got more responsive and the lock screen changed. took a picture to test that out and its looks GREAT. Once again Verizon is on top!!! I am loving this phone, so what it does not come with certain features...THERES AN APP and UPDATE for that!!!
