New Motorola Droid Update Available

With those big, thin floppy disks with a hole in the middle. Wow...

My first dos based computer was a Compaq portable commonly caled a "lunch box" but it looked more like a very fat beige plastic brief case.
It had a 5 1/4 floppy slot and a whopping 10mb hard disk.

Actually...
I actually fiddled with an Altair but never accomplished anything. For those of you not "in the know" this was "personal computer" Number 1. You programmed it in binary with switches (on=1, off =0).

I started with a Comodore 64 before the Compaq.

i forced frg83d via the update.zip download (android forums) ... would anyone be able to tell me if i can reroot using the same method i used before (root droid 1 - regardless of os version ) ? thanks

Will the OTA update break root?
My daughter excepted it but can not tell me if she still has root. Said she still has tether but she also dose not have a clue what I've done to her phone.

Wife just got home and advised me she is receiving an up date to her D2. She also is rooted. I'm pretty sure it will break her root. RIGHT.

I'm pretty sure it will if her recovery doesn't block it

In the earlier OTA update - in the Summer - SPRecovery *did* block the thing from installing, but CW didn't. My Droid 1, with SPR was fine, but it's my Dinc. and my Droid X that I worry about now. Both are tied into CW Recovery. It'd be nice if someone like the folks who gave us UnRevoked could come up with a permanent way to block these mandatory OTA updates for those two phones, so those of us ho don't trust Motorola or Verizon could ignore the things and get on with our lives.

My two cents worth...

I downloaded the update on my X late last night, but am unable to download it on the identical phone that I bought for my wife in the same delivery. What gives?
