New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

With the BS being thrown around with data caps... What's happening to the lucky ones who got in on this deal?
I thought we were locked into this till like 2058 or something?
I've lived threw 2 updates, on this plan, so far... Still need to update the other 2 phones to 4g

Swyped on my Bionic, brought to you by Tapatalk2
I heard it was only good for a year, I believe I had it longer then that though.

Yea, I've had for about 1.5 years now; I think it was Nov 2010 right? I'm thinking about making my family do full upgrades (no more discounted handsets) so we can keep unlimited. I imagine if you don't have "unlimited data" then the discount drops off. I save $1200/yr AND don't have to worry about going over ever; I'd rather have them throttle me. I'm just hoping to upgrade 2-3 more phones before this kicks in.

I called VZW and spoke with a rep who said that change would only happen to customers who came from annother carrier such as AT&T or Sprint but that the change might not happen for a couple of years. If you've been on VZW for more than 5 years with unlimited data then you'll be fine. Just posting what I was told as if 9:50 pm.

Let's hope that holds true.

I just spoke with the Loyalty Dept on an unrelated matter. Afterwards, I asked them what is going to happen to this fantastic deal once these data caps are officially in place. She said that we would be able to keep everything as is -- unlimited with the promo pricing. There was no mention of 5 years or longer with VZW data service. I took it a step further and asked if this would still be the case if we purchased a subsidized phone. She said yes. According to her, I've got the best of both worlds for life, as my promo does not have an expiration date. Again, this is directly from the Loyalty Dept, not some ordinary VZW schmuck.

While that's somewhat reassuring, I wouldn't bank on it since I've been lied to from everybody from store employees, to the loyalty dept.

That's what I mean. We really won't know 100% til it happens.

I agree. It's bad enough to lose unlimited data, but then to lose a price plan that was promised for life on top of that would be a real kick in the jimmy. More $$$ for less data -- not cool. Loyalty is a supposed to be a two-way street. Only time will tell how this whole thing shakes out, but I'm encouraged from what I was told.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. I'm not rooted (want to but to chicken) and I use FoxFi for my teathering and as of now I'm at almost 36G. If I lose my unlimited data I'll be devastated. Even with the 4G plan that won't last me 4 days. I hope the loyalty dept. is right and we all stay where we are. Hell my father inlaw is still only paying $15 a month for his phone. Albeit a cheepo flip one but they never forced him to change (I'm sure they'd like him to though!). Here's to optimism!

FWIW, "Unlimited Data" was never meant to be a replacement for your home broadband...
Just Sayin'...

If this was just me, it be an even point, but I'd get unlimited txt, where now I'm at $5 for 250. Never.gone over though just close.

The wife has no desire to get a smartphone so now we just have $10 for her line. So $103 after taxes.vs $140 before taxes. No thanks.

Sent from someplace, and with something that you need not worry about.

Finally an intelligent reply to all those whining about being charged for being a data hog. Your phone is not a home computer replacement. It is still just a phone, with cool extras. You (and me) fell for the all the computing in your hand hype, 30-50gb per month? Dang I'm trying my best to use my 2x the data plan and I'm on the 4gb plan, feel cheated when I don't use it all up in a month. I did figure out how watching "movies" can suck up the data. Thank goodness for the home Wi-Fi. Lol
Oh well, gotta go find a 50 buck lapdock, and fret over my battery life. Okay which one today, 1740 or my 2760 or my 4000 mAh battery?
