New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

I didn't read this thread but just wanted to drop in and say that I called and they gave me this plan, no questions asked. Took all of two minutes. It'll save me $40 per month! I'm near Seattle...

This whole promotion is strange some people call and get rejected others call and don't. well after switching to this new plan I called #611 and talked with a couple verizon reps. and the system shows the changes but shows them as discounts to the data plans on the standard 1400 min family share plan. the guy explained that on their screen it shows that I'm on the 1400 plan with 29.99 data on three lines and that I get the promotional discount of -20.00 per data per line plus 20% off for device discount and 25% off for being an employee of HD. so my original bill was about 180.00 a month for 3 phones 1400 minutes and two unlimited data plans. the new bill will be about 120 with three phones 1400 Min's and three unlimited data plans. All is great and I'm loving the 60 dollar savings
but the fact their system is showing it as a data discount troubles me.
also when ever you change your plan on verizon you are always always directed to an automated recording to confirm and agree to the new plan terms I was not asked nor directed to do so with this new promotion. so my question is has anyone been sent an email or text with details on the finite details of this plan. Or has everyone including me blindly jumped on this and put faith in big red not to hang all of us by our GO NADS.

i think i have pretty much the exact deal as you did. i double checked the details online and it seems everything is good. mine says $20 discount per data line as well. i'm still confused how we got from $140 to our deal.

I first saw this deal on engaget.
thats how they said the deal would come up.. it would be the normal plan with money taken off each month..
i only remember because i thought it was weird that it would work this way..

well if you do the math the OG 1400 plan is 110.00 plus 29.99 for data for master phone and 29.99 for data on second line = 169.98 plus 29.99 for any more lines each data can add up quick.
in my case it was 110 plus 9.99 plus 29.99 plus 9.99 plus 29.99 = 189.87

it seems that the biggest savings comes from Verizon rolling the second line data into the first at no extra cost. because on the old plan data was charged for each line from 1 to 5 here it covers lines 1 and 2 for 9.99 of the 139.99 amount and then continues with a 29.99 + 9.99 -20.00 routine for each additional line.

but all the math aside verizon has given no written assurance that this plan/discounts are permanent in fact on your my verizon page it says promotional discount that means it can be removed at verizons will.
this worries me because these savings are huge and i wish to keep them for some time.

If your that paranoid, then don't do it. The rest of us will take money savings wherever and whenever we can.

I get a 20% voice and 20% data discount through my employer, so what should the breakdown be for the 2 line 1400 min/month family plan?

Talk & Text 1400 for $110 (Line 1) - 20% employer voice discount = $88
+ $10 talk and text (Line 2), no voice discount on the second line
+ $30 unlimited data (Line 1) - 20% employer data discount - $20 promo = $4
+ $30 unlimited data (Line 2) - 20% employer data discount - $20 promo = $4

= $88 + $10 + $4 + $4 = $106 for both lines

Not sure if the 20% employer discount applies to the data charge on the second line. Anyone know?

As long as the data is $29.99, your discount WILL apply to them!

I also have the 20% discount from my employer, so can anyone confirm this rough amount for 2 lines on the new family unlimited plan?

So can anyone please give of some advice if I should try this? I upgrade it July to a Droid X and my boyfriend got a new dumbphone. The thing is I still have an Altell contract. I have 2000 minutes for 99.99 2nd line for 15.00 and 20 free friends and family numbers and then 29.99 for my droid x data plan. So I havent tired to call and get this deal yet because I am not sure if it would benefit me. Can you please give me some advice? All advice is welcome and appreciated!! Thanks in advance. O and I live in South Carolina.
