New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

Not sure if this is 100% true. But I called last night, got through and asked a bunch of questions. Apparently, this pricing is only good for 1 year. After that 1 year is up, the prices go back to normal. I was going to do it, but given that it will just go back to normal pricing, which would put the $139.99 plan back up to almost $200, I'm going to have to pass. I'm hoping I'm wrong, and you guys are getting great deals though!
My wife doesn't want to take that chance.... unfortunately....I was looking forward to getting her a droid.....

I just called and they are only offering it to customers who got a specific email from them.

This has been brought up and answered many times now on this thread. If someone tells you that hang up and try another representative. I did not get the email and I got the new plan. It isn't restricted to those who got the email.

my girlfriend's contract was going to be up in a week. all the phones she liked was a smart phone (still on a dumb phone) going with this plan even if it was just one year is going to save us a almost $500 for the year. I would like to think that plans would only get cheaper with the newer technology coming out. Might as well upgrade and enjoy it for a year if there's a savings because you're going to do it sometime soon anyways.

what is Verizon's policy regarding changing a contract anyways? If they change it, would we have the option of dropping their service without fees or anything? By getting the new phone at a discount, I think she might be locked in for another two years.

Hmmm.. So I'm thinking about giving this a try..

Currently:
1400 minutes, unlimited text, M2M - $110.00 + $9.99 (extra line)
DX w/unlimited data - $29.99
DX w/unlimited data - $29.99

Which equals...

$119.99 + $29.99 + $29.99 = $179.97

According to the OP...

I can get what I have now for $139.99. That's 40 bucks a month!

I am only 3 months into my 2 year contract.. Got both DX's in August.

Boom goes the dynamite...

I called and they said it would be no problem to change my plan. Didn't even have to mention the email or where I read about the offer, he just offered it to me.

He said I see you are paying $119.99 for talk and text (1400 anytime & unlimited text), and $29.99 for each of your data plans on your two Droid X's, for a total of $179.99. I said yes, you are correct. He said we can now offer you the data plans at $9.99 for each of your smartphones, for a total monthly cost of $139.99. He said it will now show up on my bill as Talk and Text + Data with a $20 data discount on each line. I said "You are the Man!", he laughed and said thanks for being a Verizon Wireless customer. The whole thing took 6 minutes 42 seconds.

I still get to keep my 19% corporate discount and I live in TN. Oh, and since I had more than 12 months left on my current contract, he said the extra year was not applicable to me.

Hope this helps some, sorry for the ones that can't get it.

I just got the confirmation email this morning, the proof is attached. I did not receive the email, just called and they made it happen, 1st try. See my above posts.

Just tried a second time and no luck. The CSR again told me it was only extended to those who received and email or text. I have a droid and my wife has a dumb phone with 700 minutes. We never come close as she looked at my account and said my plan seem fine the way it was. I then told her I was looking to upgrade my wife to a smartphone and that I would the need more minutes and the unlimited texts and she still blew me off. I'll be trying again in a little.

0/2 :-(

Keep trying, someone on here took 6 tries lol

every rep has a different personality and thinking and told different things too most likely so chances are you'll definitely get one soon lol

well i got two emails confirming the account changes this morning
so all seems great and i cant wait for my 60 dollar savings each month.
A friend of mine also got this deal and also was told he could not by the rep he talked with. he just bypassed the rep and asked to speak with a supervisor and the supervisor told him it was for people that had the email
he mentioned droid forums and was allowed on the promotion.

having been a single call let in myself granted i got the email. its crazy that verizon would have its rep and managers hold to this and other who don't. Verizon knows about the leaked email on the forums and should just open this to all who call as long as it hasn't expired.

something similar happened to me when I was sent an early upgrade for the Droid X in the mail I called in and one rep would tell me no I'm not eligible and would have to wait 6months for my contract to end and another would say wow thats a great deal for you lets get this rolling.
I love verizon and so far the Customer service has been spot on but in these odd cases the lack of corporate communication is really frustrating

Was able to switch on my first attempt. I have two Droids and one media phone. Saved $30 a month. Was told the promo was good until I left Verizon. Had to extend contract for a year. Did not receive email from them, told the Rep. that I read about it online. She made the switch within 5 minutes. Called from Columbus Ohio.

Mother of God. It worked.

4th time was the charm for me! I checked my account and there is a $20 Discount on there now! Awesome! Thanks Droidforums!

My previous 3 calls I spoke to a few women who told me that I had to receive the email, that it was limited to only some customers, blah blah blah. However, today I spoke to a nice gentlemen who was nice, and didn't even ask me about the email! Awesome!

I did not get the email, I called and got the plan. My 19% discount did apply, and friends and family is included. We have 5 lines and 3 with data smart phone plans. I am going to save $ 60 per month. He backdated it to first day of current bill cycle. Two lines were under a year and were extended by a month to make one year. Also, when you call, call the special number. Μµµµµµ do not have to have the email to qualify, I did not. And all plans are considered promo.

but all the math aside verizon has given no written assurance that this plan/discounts are permanent in fact on your my verizon page it says promotional discount that means it can be removed at verizons will.
this worries me because these savings are huge and i wish to keep them for some time.

If your that paranoid, then don't do it. The rest of us will take money savings wherever and whenever we can.

After you get on this plan, if you call 611 and ask how long the promo is good for, their system lists the promo as going through December 2038.
