New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

After you get on this plan, if you call 611 and ask how long the promo is good for, their system lists the promo as going through December 2038.

Agh, can't edit news posts:

the pricing is good through December 2038 but the promo is only being offered for a couple of weeks according to two reps at 611. I have their names and email addresses if anyone wants to pm me for them to ask them directly, but I don't feel right posting them on here.

Steeee-riiike 3 for me.

Got the same answer for the 3rd time. The offer wasn't given to my account so I can't take advantage.

I quit. I'll just light a $20 bill on fire once a month in honor of wasting it :)

This is not true. It is in effect until you change it.

I just called and they are only offering it to customers who got a specific email from them.

I've tired the 'play dumb' approach. I've tried the assertive approach, I've tried running right thru the rep just getting them to make the sale (as if it was in stone that I got this e-mail).... no luck.

Tears for my next call? lol

Agree, the lady I spoke to said I didn't get an email sent or letter, but they would honor the price anyways, and they did. Called to get my second droid phone for the wife, they said I require the data plan as I don't have the plan I said I have, after several minutes the lady refreshed the screen and said I did have the promo. This is good forever until you change it according them.

Odd that some people are getting a 'free pass' and others (like myself) are being stalemated. I've been a customer for a long time, always having paid on time..... not sure why they're making me sweat over here :icon_evil:

I just called...have four lines added unlimited data to two of the other phones and still paying $40.00 less than I was. I downgraded my minutes but we were always way under our limit so it works. My kids are thrilled to fnally have data :) This was a BIG plus for us.

Make sure you're calling the number from the e-mail and not *611.
I know people want to save minutes, but honestly the call took me a total of 10 minutes.

Do not lie.. do not play dumb... do not try to pull one over on them.
Simply say "I'm calling about an e-mail regarding a new plan...." and go from there.

Called the number in OP.... didn't try to pull over anything... every time it comes back that my mobile number was not sent the offer. Which is crap, since plenty of others have bypassed this road block.

One of the reps was about to set it up only to pop back in and throw out the red flag.

Ok this is major business here! Here's my situation..

On my plan is my droid, and 3 droid eris', all with unlimited data plans and we share 2100 minutes. My monthly bill is $290.

I called about this offer (I didn't get the email), but the guy said he could make it happen for me. With mine and 3 eris', my monthly bill would be $179.99 plus tax! Saving me almost $100 per month!

Of course the only draw is we would have 700 less minutes to share per month...

So I know this used to work, but does it still... if everybody on my plan got a Google Voice number and put the number it dials out to to make calls onto the fave list, would this not use any minutes for me?

Like I said, I know this USED to work, as I used to do it all the time. However, there was no need, as we never go over 2100 minutes, so instead of giving EVERYBODY my gv number, I just stopped using it. I have noticed though, that a few times I did use it and I made a call to somebody out of state and it dialed out to a different number than the one it always had dialed out to in the past... so does the google voice + fave 10 workaround still work???

Thanks a million for any help! (This offer may end up saving me millions heheh)

Do you use your Friends and Family numbers??? You have up to 10 slots to fill with frequently dialed numbers that are not Verizon. I have mine filled and I have four lines two of which are teenage girls and I do not go over the 1400 mins. (and these are our primary phones, no land lines in my house).

This plan saved me 80 bucks. I am soooo stoked. My base plan was costing me $260.00 (1400 mins, 4 lines, 4 smart phones with data pkgs). Now my base is 179.99.

To those that are being told its regional. I am in Arizona and I was told this is a nationwide promotion. So call back and speak with a supervisor if you have to to get it.

I was asked where I heard it from since I did not get the email and I told them that I heard about the promotion on DF and the girl giggled and said good for you.

Exactly right. I also tried to convey this message in my reply too.

I think it all depends on the rep you get. It's apparent some are 'by the book' and some don't seem to mind extending the offer.

I haven't been fortunate enough to land one of the 'free spirits'

Another happy thanks from me for this thread. I called and was told it was a limited offer that had "gone viral". I explained that I was planning to upgrade my phone and pass my Droid1 on to another line. We had two with data and two without. I would have been adding another data plan soon anyway. My mom on the 4th line sure didn't need data but I was able to get an Ally for her on a BOGO with my Droid X (spent all night reading the DX vs SF debates). We go down from 2000 to 1400 minutes and add unlimited texts. We were always under on minutes and pushing the limits on the 250 text plan so even if I don't save much, it's a plus for me! I suspect they look at usage so they could see that we haven't been over using the plan that we had. The VZ rep was excellent. I will be tuning in to the Droid X forums now and maybe looking for tips on how to get flip-phone users up to speed on Android!

The DX vs SF decision came down to wanting to keep my Android experience, btw. I really like the size and screen reviews on the SF but don't think I could stand a wildly different interface. I'm not really interested in doing all the moding that it would take to make the SF behave :)

I haven't gotten any email or text confirmation. Looking at my account online, I have the 1400 mins, but only the main line has the $20 discount, and we have 2 lines that already had data packages. Now when I called in 3 of the lines had feature phones, so I upgraded them before she put in the new plan to smart phones and data plans. I'm hoping it all fixes itself when I get the new phones activated. The other 3 lines still show the pay per MB use.
