New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

OK...so here is what I understand; seems like lots of people are getting different info. I called the 877 number, and again was denied the promotion as I hadn't received an e-mail or mailer. After some talking about how long I'd been there and the size of my bill (OK, I shamelessly begged LOL), the rep agreed to give me the promotion.

From what she told me, the promotion from the 1400 min plan is simply a 1 year $20 discount per line. All else stays the same, if at the end of the year, the promotion is not renewed (or new plans are not available by then), then you simply go back to the plan that you are on now. She kept stressing that this is not a new plan, but only a year long promotion.

In any case, with 5 smartphones in my family, that's a $100 / mo saving for at least a year!:icon_ banana:

OK, well I called again and begging didn't help, they have several differant promotions out and these are only for those who gets emails, trial bases. So I am not one of the lucky ones.... Yet.

Just got the plan, no problem. I just said I had read about it. There was no discussion about whether or not I had received an email. However, I had a 20% discount on voice and data through work. The rep told me I would lose the discount on data by going with the plan. But I still gained 700 minutes, saved $3/month and my daughter with an Alias2 can now use mobile web, where she couldn't before. All in all, not a bad deal.

The rep did tell me the promotion was only good for one year, but said I could renew it then if I wanted to.

AlBundy, hmmm, that's not what I was told, I was told this was a permanent change to my account that did not expire

That is exactly what I was told. The Loyalty rep told me that when I get a new phone and I sign the new 2 year contract that this current promo'd contract would be extended for the 2 year re-sign.

I called yesterday. She told me your email or phone must be on the list. It was not for everyone but it could change so watch my emails.

Being as I am already on the 450minutes unlimited text and data plan, I gave this a shot. I called the number in the first post and quickly was given a NO. No questions...just a NO. Swing as I wasn't getting anywhere with him, I called back a second time and as advised I mentioned that I received an email with the promotion. He checked and said my account wasn't one of the accounts that got the offer but he offered to see if he could get my account added and told me they would call back next week with an answer. Lo and behold 30 minutes later a different rep calls me and says that I wasn't in their database to receive the offer but since I had seen the offer he would let me have it. He added that since I was already on a two year contract I didn't need to extend it an additional year. He did plead at the end for me to tell him where I heard about this offer because he said they have been flooded with people calling about it lol. Needless to say I stuck by my story that I had received an email. My suggestion would be to hurry up on calling if you want the deal...and heed the advise others have given. Call back to get another rep if given a no. State you had received the email. Good luck to everyone trying.

Man I could use this. I have 3 lines ready for an upgrade from dumb phones and all three want Droids of some sort.

woo hoo !!! i just called about this awesome deal on this plan and at first the customer rep was very helpful and informative about the details of the plan but she did state it was only available to people who were on the promo mailing list as a test group of sorts. she then told me i was not eligible as i was not in the database to recieve this offer:icon_eek:. so i replied then to her that if it was made eligible to the public in the near future i would be very interested in signing up for it. she then told me to wait a sec and said she would speak to her supervisor.... i waited maybe for a total of 10 seconds and bam she said i was eligible and it only cost me 2.00 extra a month for unlimited data on third line and 700 more minutes than what i was already paying !!!!!!!!!!!!:icon_ banana:

Just a quick question to those of you who have jumped on this offer. The flyer says there's a $35 activation fee; any chance of getting that waived? In all the times I've re-upped with Verizon I've never actually paid an activation fee. I'd like to keep that streak alive. I'd appreciate any insights.
