New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

I didn't get the email and I just called and the guy wouldn't activate me. I'll try again tomorrow, maybe I'll get someone else.

It might be because I'm getting a government discount.

Figured it would be worth a shot.
 
Never got an e-mail or a mailer, so I've been told by no less than 5 different reps that I'm not eligible for the promotion (even though I have a $350 / mo bill and have been a customer for 15 yrs). :icon_evil: Are people who are succeeding calling *611 or the 877 number that is in the ad? Any other ideas on getting this, other than to keep rep surfing?

Fifteen years? Verizon started in the year 1999.dancedroid

Every time I called, they thanked me for being with them since 1995, and then denied letting me have the promotion...go figure. Guess, I'll try rep surfing some more tomorrow.
 
i'm currently on a 1yr contract.

i called yesterday and talked to a rep. i just said im calling about the new promotion and she pretty much wanted me to make the switch, no questions asked.

im on a 700 minute family share plan (2 lines, 1 smartphone 1 regular phone). My bill is $151/month and the rep said my monthly price would jump to around $160. I was trying to save money but I guess I'll end up paying an extra $10-15 if i take this plan. dont know if should do it or not?

even though my gf doesnt have a smartphone yet, will the unlimited data still give her unlimted internet access, etc. too or is just for smartphones?
 
I called tonight. Told the rep I was calling about the promo plan. She asked if I had received an email, I said no, just read about the plan on the internet. She said it's not something they are normally offering, but she would take a look at my plan.

I was on FS700 + Unlimited text for 3 lines, with unlimted data on my line, plus the $9.99 data for 25MB on my 2nd line, no data for 3rd line.

I had them cancel the 3rd line, which I wasn't really using, so I will save $10/month, plus double my minutes , plus friends & family, plus unlimited data for both remaining lines. Good deal for me.

Only catch is she has to have a supervisor terminate the 3rd line now (as opposed to waiting until the end of the billing cycle) before they can apply the discounts. She is supposed to do this tomorrow morning, and call me to confirm. Hopefully they won't screw this up.

I've checked online, and I already have the 1400 minute upgrade and I can access friends & family settings.
 
switched my family plan yesterday morning. I live in North Carolina and didn't get the email, but they switched me without any questions.

First time I called on Wednesday evening, I spoke with a very knowledgeable rep who explained the plan and how it would affect my bill. She put me on hold for a few minutes and when she came back said they couldn't do the switch as long as my dad had a Samsung Knack non-data capable phone.

So, I called back Thursday morning to swap his phone with an old feature phone my wife had in addition to signing up for the new unlimited plan offer. The rep I talked to first on Thursday was clueless. She said I couldn't get on the plan unless all 5 of my lines already have the $29.99 data plan. I hung up and called back not 30 seconds later and spoke with another rep who was very friendly and helped me swap the phones and signed me up for the new plan.
 
My first call today got denied. The CSR looked up my primary number against an internal promo list and said I shouldn't have received the email.

I'll try again later.
 
Ok, in an earlier post, I saw that someone was talking about using Friends and Family on the 450 minute plan and having to call in to get it added.

Is that free? I may have missed an earlier deal with F&F, but I thought you had to have 700 minutes. I'd love to get it added to my current plan (i got in on this deal as well.)

I did get F&F 5 added to my 450 minutes when I called in. As far as I'm aware it's free.

Hmm, thats odd, the guy told me that was only for the 900min plan.

Guess I'll have to call a few more times lol.
 
Just in case you run into this issue -

I had a Droid 1 and the Wife an LG Dare, we got on this plan and both phones showed the discount. However when I upgraded the wifes phone to a Droid last night, she lost the discounts and calling Verizon they said I am not on the plan and the cost is 171.00 per month. I called back to the 877 number and talked to them, they said no problem, they know I'm on the plan and added the new phone back on as it been removed during the change out.

So, verify if you have a situation like mine and upgrade phones after you are on the plan. Just call back if it does not look right and they will correct it.
 
Got it today. I just told them I wanted the Unlimited (Family)Promotion. They said no problem, and got me all setup for my 4-lines. Three of my lines are Droids so this did save me quiet a but of money. Thanks DF's! And sense my vontract does not expire till 2012, the added 1-year did not apply to me. It still expires in 2012.

Yeah, either the rep I got knew all the ins and outs of this promo or she hooked me up with a sweet deal. Either way I made out like a bandit lol.
 
Just got the 1400 FS plan like a champ. Called saying I got an email a couple days ago and was interested and had some questions. She said, " I would love to go over that with you". So I asked some mundane things like making sure my 10 F&F numbers would stay, Etc.

The only problem I had was that my Grandma's phone wasn't data capable, so she switched her over to a national freedom plan w/ 100 anytime and 500 N&W minutes for $25 (Only $5 more then if she were to get added on the FS plan) (Luckily she only uses about 10 min/month)

So yay!!!!!! She did try to upsell me ALOT though. Almost every 3-4 minutes was oh do you have cases, do you have bluetooth for driving, do you want to use up your last available line and add another number, etc.

Was just going to post this. I upgraded the 3 lines that didn't have phones that used Data. I called when the phones got here on Wed and made sure the data plans and discount were on all the lines as the main line was the only one who had the discount. I checked my account last night and saw that the 2 lines that the D1's had the discount, but the 3 new droids didn't. So I called this morning and they said they were on as pending and somebody had to go back and input the codes once the new phones were activated. So make sure you call in if you upgrade some lines, I wouldn't leave it to chance that somebody goes back and inputs the codes for the "pending" lines.
