New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

I signed up for this promo last week without having the email. Checked my email this morning and I have the email from Verizon dated today. Go figure.
 
I never had the email and never had a problem. Hope this becomes more globally available.

I'd take advantage of this in a heart beat if my mom had any desire for a smartphone or knew how to use one.

Right now we're paying just around $140 a month for 1400 shared minutes, 1500 texts to my line, and unlimited data to my line. We'd get much more for the same price, by what I'm hearing is that I'd have to upgrade her to a smartphone. She has a simple feature phone and has absolutely no desire for anything more. She doesn't even text.

And you were still able to take advantage of this?

The problem is, my mom's phone isn't even data capable. It's just a basic LG phone.
 
Yep, I'm getting mixed messages. Some people have had to put data on all phones on a plan. Others have had to upgrade to a data capable phone or have one already but not have to put the data plan on all phones on the family plan. I'm in the same boat. I have 5 lines on a family plan. One is a basic phone. My father doesn't want a data phone. I don't care if I have to upgrade his phone to a data capabile phone as long as I don't have to pay for the data plan he won't use.
 
OK, I went back and looked at the details on the email that folks got (I didn't get one). Here's what it said in fine print:

*Plus other charges. For Family SharePlans, monthly access fee of $139.99 only applies to the first two lines. All secondary lines on a Family SharePlan must take the Talk and Data promo. Promotion excludes Family SharePlan 700.

So if folks are getting the plan without including data for all phones on the plan they just lucked out with the csr who didn't know all the details, I guess.

Drat! Right now I only want to upgrade two lines to data. On my current plan (700 family w/unl text) It would be $129.99 + $60 data for two phones=$189.99. To upgrade to 1400 plan and all 5 phones with data it will be $199.99 a month. I would gain 700 minutes for $10 a month, but we don't use 700 minutes now. If I upgraded a 3rd phone to data, then it would be worth it for the new deal.
 
Just cleaned house with this deal! They messed up on my new every 2 credit which was $100. My hubby got htc loves it. I got the fascinate free (less then pleased), they charged me $100 instead of crediting me. Got $200 in mail in rebates coming from those phones. Credited my account 100.00 for the miss on my new every 2. Worry Free Guarantee sending Fasinate Back getting that for $299.99 less new every two $100 (now got it twice) 199.99 -100.00 because of misunderstanding (now 3 times) plus send in 100.00 mail in rebate for the X! I LOVE VERIZON! WELL WHEN THEY MAKE MISTAKES I CATCH!

My bill was $184 700 min unlimited text & data with taxes and surcharges. Down to 139.99 plus taxes & surcharges 1400 min unlimited text, m2m, family & friends, unlimited data! YEY now I've got something on my sister who is on the "OTHER GUY" Unlimited plan. and I am getting the Droid X! Can't wait!
 
Just a heads up about this promotion. I got my MyVerizon notification and almost fell off my chair. My primary line lost the 20% feature discount (20% off the primary line data package); the two dumb phones on my plan were charged the full $29.99 and still billed as $9.99 lines. My bill went up almost $70 than it normally is. The rep I spoke to was in Salt Lake City (outsourced) and said he sees the documentation in the notes and he is hopeful the real plan kicks in for me next month. I guess the advantage for me was I reviewed my bill before calling them and knew exactly which lines were now being charged that shouldn't. He credited these back to me (minus the taxes which is normal and they will credit on the next bill statement). So, my bill is now back to where it should be when it was under the old plan. I still will be calling the special CMO number on Monday to double check with them why my billing error occurred.

I just wanted to give a heads up to those who got this new promotion to check your bill when it is available through MyVerizon online.
 
Earlier in the week I called and was told the new plan would take effect with my new billing cycle, which began today. I checked my account online and, sure enough, our plan was changed from the 700 minute family share talk plan to the 1400 minute family talk & text plan. However, it appears that I have the regular talk & text plan and the regular unlimited data feature added on, neither priced at the promotional price. I just called the main customer service line (the office line listed in the promo is closed today) and they had some error, said I'd need to call back tomorrow. However, one rep said that some notes in my record say something about the promo expiring today. In the past whenever a promo ends they've been unable to use that promo code retroactively, so I hope I'm not screwed. I'm calling the number in the promo code tomorrow.
 
No one here wants to hear my horror story.. I went online to see how much my bill dropped and HOLY YAHOO... IT'S OVER $800 from the regular $230. In a middle of a big big dispute now..
 
No horror stories here. Just got my statement for the next billing cycle. Everything is perfect, bill dropped $40 per month. Taxes and all, $150. down from $192 the previous 3 months. We have 2 DX's on the 1400 family plan. Word.
