New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

Just called. The rep asked me if I received the email or if it was forwarded to me. I said it was forwarded because I'm not sure if they would need proof that it was sent ot me from Verizon.

He told me since I didn't receive the email directly, I wasn't qualified.

If you call, tell them you received the email directly and see if that works.

Does anyone have the official name, id#, or something that we can give to Verizon reps for this promotion?

i dont know of one. just tell them you want the $20/mo/line data discount

"TALK & TEXT PLUS DATA $20 DISC" is what the promo is called and is what you'll see on your bill, saw this on a screen shot posted by "nmanley" on the below thread post#847....

Its real but would cost me more.. it will save a ton for a lot of people but I guess I have a weird situation...
Family Share 700 min $99 (together we average only 400 min used outside of free mobile to mobile and anyone else on verizon network.)
2 lines
My line Droid with $30 data
Wife has old Env and never wants a smartphone. EVER. I will spare you the details...
Our bill is $129

To get this as family share you need the 1400 minute plan.

This starts at $119. Then you add $10 a month for two lines per this promotion for unlimited everything and the total is $139. So it woud cost more for me.

Now to clear any debate. I know $10 extra to lock in the "option" to have unlmited on two phones seems like a no brainer, but my wife HATES smartphones, and has at least a year left on her phone before upgrade. Technology is pushing every phone these days to be smartphone, but at least a year before she might have to make that decision. We got 4G coming. Yeah not now but sooner then later. I am holding on to my Droid 1 upgrade till 4G hits.. By the time all that plays out and my wife has to make the decision due to tech to go to a better phone there will be other options out there. Don't want to pay $10 extra a month knowing that it won't be used and I will be looking into 4G plans sooner then later..

Just wanted to say this worked for me. I called the 877 number on flyer and said i was calling about a email i recieved about Unlimited talk text and data family shared plan and he said ok and looked into my account and said i would save around 10 dollars a month.

My plan was main line 1400 min $80
data $29.99
text 250 $5

Second line $9.99
Data $29.99
text 250 $5

Third line Dumbphone $9.99

total $169.96

New plan 1400 min unlimited
text data family shared plan $119.99

Second line $19.99

third line dumb phone $19.99
can now upgrade to
smart phone
total $159.97

So i am saving 10 bucks and have unlimited text for all three phones which was 250 in previous plan
also Unlimited data for 3 phones where it was only 2 in beginning
so i am saving much more if you add it all up individually only catch the third line got a 1 year extension from today so DEC 2011 it is out of contract, but i still have my upgrade credit if that makes any sense

P.S This is before my 26% discount through my employer

sorry for long post just wanted to break it down for all:motdroidvert:

I am in the same boat as previous guy. Actually, my plan is exactly $.01 cheaper now than it would be. The only difference is the texting. Right now I have 500, and then it would be unlimited. My wife or I never get close to the 500 texts... Maybe because we have had the same plan since 2005 and we are still grandfathered into those great rates...

However, the promotion is legit, and it is called the Talk n Text plus data $20 discount.

they just told me the same, if no email was sent to the email associated with my account, then I get no deal.
It was worth a shot. I lied and said I received the email and then he pretty much called me out on the lie.
Thanks

I jumped on this offer back when DF first posted about it. You may get lucky the first time you call, or other reps may honestly not even know about the plan. I had to call in abiut a queston I had about my account a few weeks ago, and the first person I talked to got very confused looking at my account information and thought at first someone mistakenl put me on a non smartphone unlimited data plan. Eventually he got it straight after I was o hold for 10 minutes. The plan does in fact exist...well at least it did and from the look of things it seems some are still getting it. Doesn't hurt to try a few times to save yourself some money. Good luck!

Just worked like a charm for me, even though I never received the email in question. Doubled the minutes, and saved $20 in the end. I'm in NH, and the VERY VERY nice CSR was in Ohio. Beverly's a sweetheart!

I thought I had failed hard too the second time I called. The Guy said he would put my account into consideration to receive the offer considering the email wasn't sent to me. He said they would call back in a week or so. Twenty minutes after we hung up another Rep called me saying that they would offer it to me considering I had heard about it. He did ask me several times to tell him where I had heard about the offer though as he said they have been flooded with people calling in regarding it when only a small handful of people should have heard about it. Another win for DF and I need to give my thanks to who had reported on this (sorry, I have forgotten who reported this first).

My next move? Hit up for one of those free Droid X's if I qualify from Dell. So far it says I will or $15. I honestly don't see how I would qualify though considering I had just gotten my Droid1 in late summer (I had another, but I broke it and didn't have insurance...either way I would still be short for an upgrade). Doesn't hurt to try! I honestly thought I wouldn't get this promo deal either. Oh, one small caveat here with the promo. You might have to renew your contract. I don't think it will affect your eligibility for an upgrade though. You might wanna ask about that though and not take my word for it.

I just called in to VZW about this. Turns out the promotion is $20 off the Nationwide Unlimited Talk & Text Plan, which means it really only saves you money if you're already on unlimited minutes. In my case, I am not:

Current:
450 Minutes + 250 Texts + Unlimited Data = $75

Proposed:
Unlimited Minutes + Unlimited Texts + Unlimited Data = $100

So really, the promotion is they're offering upgrades to the Unlimited Talk & Text plan for $70, as opposed to the $90 that it normally is. Since I have no desire to upgrade to unlimited minutes, I'd actually have to pay $25 more a month for this, so I passed on the deal.

Turns out the promotion is $20 off the Nationwide Unlimited Talk & Text Plan

NOT TRUE (for me at least)

Old plan = $89.98 = $29.99 unlim text/data + $59.99 Nationwide w/ 450 mins

New plan = $69.99 = unlim text/data + Nationwide w/ 450 mins

I did not get any promo email and I still get my GE employee discount.

AWESOME!!
