New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

I did not receive the email but got the deal on my first call to the number on the flyer. Before I had 700 minutes (family) a Droid with unlimited, another with 9.99 data, and a dumb phone. I changed to 1400 minutes and unlimited data/text on all phones. It works for us because we are going to add another phone in March, and husband wants to get a smart phone. I am in Iowa.

Go Figure...I called the Verizon Loyalty number (877-628-8922) and it was a no-go. CSR said they had no record of me being sent an email or a text msg; consequently, the plan was no longer available. Sooo, I called the number on the Promotion Flyer, 877-873-3278 and spoke with a different CSR. BINGO. Will save $10/month. Basically it will mean that I get unlimited texting, whereas before I was paying $10/month for 500 txt msgs. It's kind of screwy how they will bill it though. The price for 450 minutes per month goes up by $20 and I will receive a monthly credit of $20 for the unlimited data plan. Like I said, Go Figure!

Shot down yet again. Called 611 this time and was told the promotion was over. Smh.

Sent from my DROIDX using DroidForums App

I just wanted to share my experience with this promotion and how I was able to successfully apply it. I was able to go from 2 LG Dare's to 2 HTC Incredibles for a fixed cost of $50 without increasing the cost of the monthly data plan (net $10/line). Please note that I had a $100 credit on my primary line, reducing my overall fixed cost.

Attempt 1 - 12/27/10
2 Droid X's (Buy 1, Get 1 Free) for net $100 ($200 - $100 credit)
Data plan for $10/line through "Smartphone talk free promotion"
Rep said she would call back, never did

Attempt 2 - 12/28/10
Told me that the Buy 1, Get 1 Free deal was no longer valid (after xmas) for Droid X
Instead, I could get the 1 Incredible and 1 X for net $100 (same cost as above)
However, data would be $20/line because the Smartphone promotion charges $30/line and then gives only $10 credit/line
Emailed rep 1 about the deal

Attempt 3 - 12/28/10
Told I couldn't even get 1 incredible, 1 x because the droid x is more expensive and the buy 1, get 1 free is only applicable on the incredible
Could not do better than $20/line for data

Attempt 4 - 12/28/10
Called 1-800-922-0204
Picked option 0
Said "promotions"
Told the rep that I was looking for the Holiday promo called the Talk, Text, & Data Promo with the $20 dollar data discount
She put me on hold and then came back and said she had to transfer me to a different dept. (CMO dept)
Transferred and spoke to the next rep
Said I could get 2 incredibles but no droid X's
Said I could get the discount making $10/line for data
Gave me 2 free car chargers because of all the pain...

Final costs:
+250 phone 1
-100 phone 1 credit
+50 phone 1 tax (calculated as 10% of full retail price of $500)
(Phone 2 free b/c of Buy 1, Get 1 Free)
+50 phone 2 tax
-100 phone 1 mail in rebate
-100 phone 2 mail in rebate
_______

Net: +$50

Monthly: $10/line with $20 data discount applied

Good luck everyone. Be persistent.

How much is the total for 4 or 5 data lines? I'm thinking about switching over.

This is pretty easy.

$139.99 for the plan
$19.99 for each additional line beyond two.

So for four, you're looking at $139.99 + $39.98 = 179.97

And for five, you're looking at $139.99 + 59.97 = 199.96

I signd up for the new plan severalmonths ago when it first came out. At that time I did not put my husbands line on a data plan because he did not have a smart phone( even though others kept saying it couldn't be done). I had three lines with data and then his. He became eliglble for an upgrade and decided he wanted a smart phone. He ordered the Incredible. I called Verizon (thinking I was stuck with paying $29.99 for his data pkg) just to see if I could get the same unlimited for 9.99 on his also. They did it with no problem at all. I was surprised and happy! Naysayers aside I have never had a problem with Verizon or Verizon CSR. And on a side note - my husband is loving his Incredible. It's a big learning curve but he is up to the challenge :)

I called the number on the flyer this morning. I explained that I had seen the promotion and that I wasn't sure if I was eligible or not. A very nice rep put me on hold to check. She came back a few minutes later and I am now saving $20 a month! Thanks for the info.

I meant after taxes.

Add about 20% to those totals ± some for your location.

179.97 * 1.20 = 215.96 => 220.00 (more realistic)
199.96 * 1.20 = 239.95 => 245.00 "

Couldn't find an edit button, but I almost forgot, Boss tried for the plan and they gave it to him. (FL) He also was able to keep the 2000 minutes we had on our old plan. Just to keep that in mind.

No one knows what your taxes and fees are. Mine are nowhere near 20% which is mentioned above.
