New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

The "unlimited data" in this new Verizon plan...
Is it a limit of 2GB or 5GB, before Verizon starts charging more?

I hear new AT&T contracts allot 2GB (for $25/month ?), and they charge some fee ($10?) for each additional GB over 2GB.
So if you use 5GB, cost will be $55(?) per month.
Old contract was $30/month, and they won't bother you unless you went over 5GB per month.

I heard somewhere that Verizon may be going in the same direction too.
Is this the first step in that direction by Verizon?

As far as I have been told (right before I got the plan) unlimited means exactly what the definition of unlimited means ;). It is unlimited data....No cap......You can't tether, I mean you can, but if they notice you go over 5GB they will look into your usage

Anyone try this in southern California? I've tried several times with no luck. I think Verizon hates socal. LOL

How close is your contract to being up? You can try what a lot of my friends have tried, which worked.....Tell them that you were told you could get the plan and you even got the email. If they still say no, tell them that this is ridiculous and if they won't give it to you, that you have found that at&t has a pretty good deal going on with data plans and you will go ahead and pay the contract termination fee, to go with AT&T because it will save you in the long run anyways. If that person still doesn't budge, try a supervisor. I know a lot of people who have tried this and every single one of them have been successful. If this still doesn't work, disconnect and call back right away and try again with another rep. Don't get angry be very very respectful. The nicer you are the more chance you have. I have four friends that life in SOCAL and all have been successful with this method.

Big Red Promtion

Well, I called the # on the email and was told I was not emailed the promotion and there was no current promotion being offered but, Jamie (the acct rep) looked at my acct and informed me, that my current plan (1400 min Family share plan)could get upgraded to include unlimited data on both lines for $139.77. This was the price afte my 19% (State employee) discount was subtracted from the full charge. Once again, thx 4 the orig post. Would never hav attmpted/known otherwise. droidforums.net "Rocks Big Time".

I didn't find this post until getting locked into a 2 year plan on the 23rd, but I did learn speaking the word "cancel" when dialing *611, they'll really work with you on retaining you. I very politely told the person that I was canceling my account to go to Sprint for my first smart phone. They set me up with unlimited text, unlimited internet, 450 anytime minutes WITH 5 friends and family. With my company's 10% discount, the final total was 63.99, so I went ahead and picked up a 1 year warranty on the phone for $6.

Yes, they will try to work with you to keep you, however remember "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"... Each time you do that it is carefully notated. Too many of those, and they will stop letting you scam them. They already know what you are doing, but they ignore it and suffer through it as much as they can.

I was really going to switch to Sprint. They were willing to give me almost 100 off to switch and another 100 in phone trade in.This really was VZW's last chance to keep me.

OK, that strikes a note with me. Was it because they wouldn't give you the plan? Or did you have other complaints?

Sprint's 4G network isn't really a lot of 4G and I've heard nothing good about their 3G network. I have no intentions of leaving Verizon and I didn't have to threaten to do so to get the new plan.

Natey, this has been discussed many times. Unlimited means unlimited. There is no 5GB limit, that is nothing more then a rumor. People who use apps like Pandora and constantly stream music use far greater amounts of data then 5GB. That's how we know it's unlimited.
