New X orders now will not ship until the 18th.. Yeah right

There is a guy over on the droidxforums who ordered one from his local store last night, paid for overnight shipping, and viola, had his phone today. Now that has really got to make a lot of people feel good, doesn't it? Lends some credibility to the store priority theory anyway.

Add some more fuel..... call your local Best Buy or Walmart and chances are one of the two has some X's in stock. I know my local Walmart does. I only ordered online because of how idiotic the $100 Visa Cards are the rebates.

Ordered 8/7/10 in store in San Diego, Ca.

So far absolutely nothing, being patient is hard. In Verizon's defense they did tell me he 25th.

I will say this forum is a type of therapy.

I don't know if "therapy" is the word I would use. If it wasn't for this forum, I would be expecting my Droid around the 25th and be pleasantly surprised if I get it a few days early.

I think "torture" is a more appropriate word for this forum.

This forum is the reason I realized that I could possibly get the phone earlier than expected. I obviously got priority but I have no idea. I suspect loyalty and paying closer to the ne2 price (I know not full retail) are the reasons. I am a very hostile customer too so that probably helped.

If I am paying you $120/month, do not dick around with me or my service or I will gladly go to a carrier who is not an asshole. I am lucky that Philly has great coverage from all the major carriers.

All carrier's are assholes.

My Walmart had 2 X's today. I couldn't order from them because of two reasons. 1. I hate that stupid $100 visa card, but could have lived with it if they would have done the 2nd reason. 2. They wouldn't honor my new every two $50 discount! Those two factors FORCED me to order online.

Greenville SC, ordered on the 9th. I've been a pretty vocal hellraiser about this. I called a few minutes ago for like the 6th time, but this time trying to get some contact info for Senior Management. After waiting a few minutes, the guy says "before we hang up and I have one of our senior representatives call you back, would you like me to give you your tracking number?". I almost fell out of my chair. So it appears that Fedex picked it up at 1:43 and it should be here Monday. Great for me, but what about everyone else that hasn't heard a peep?

Well I talked to this guy for a little while and it turns out that there are a few factors that determine who gets theirs first. He told me that full retail is number one priority. Then there is somewhere for the stores to note priority customers when they order supposedly. He didn't know what defined priority customers. After that , it's a matter of which distribution centers have inventory. He went on to say that there a lot of variables. I told him that I figured as much, but that the last 6 or 7 people I spoke with denied any variables and all stuck to the same first come, first serve theory. He apologized, but this proves my point, the whole thing is a freaking crap shoot. I sincerely feel bad for those who ordered prior to the 9th and still haven't heard a word. This kind of crap really shouldn't be allowed to happen.

Hey CH, right after reading this I went to check my email and guess what? Delivery confirmation from Memphis to Greenville! It should be here tomorrow! So I guess that distribution center thing is right!

My phone is being shipped from Memphis, TN according to fedex.

Ordered online. They sent an email with tracking links this morning. I had been checking on the site daily (ok a couple of times a day ) and kept getting the "Your order has been processed and will ship according to inventory availability and shipping method" message. Checked this morning at 7 AM and got the same message, came home for lunch and had an email confirming shipment.

It is BULL **** that my phone will ship from Texas. I live in CLEVELAND OHIO and it should ship from the PA Branch! That would make MUCH more sense.

i just ordered the droid x yesterday 8/18 and shipping was set at 8/31 took a look today now says 9/6. WOW! i hope they get me mine on the 8/31 date or i'll be pissed! how long is the wait usualy do you get it before the ship date, on or after?
