Nexus or Rezound?

I'm kind of leaning towards rezound, now. I was wondering this very same question.

Besides more dev support, nfc, and no shutter lag, are there any other reason to buy nexus?

Larger screen and updates directly from Google.

Because a large part of the Dev community is getting a nexus.

Desensitized still carries the lag in my experience. Systemui...phone...etc all pause too long when opening. With aosp I could've already navigated...scrolled to and selected what I was going to. I zip through my phone/screens/apps faster than the avg user. Hell most people I see use their phone are like...oooooo...uuuhhhh....mmmmm ....oh yeah...its there. In that case...you wouldn't notice the lag.

And android 4.0 seems worth writing home about....2.3.5 senseui...meh. big deal. I've seen enough from HTC to want another HTC phone. Especially the poor kernel quality for the tbolt...gb included ....inability to fix a notification problem in a timely manner. (which erishasnobattery fixed in less than an hour) wimpy ota updates ...pitiful . Don't misunderstand me...I love my tbolt

Also beatz audio has been working on several devices now. Nothing special. It only works with music on the sdcard....not apps like Pandora etc. And the headphones are the biggest bunch of hype. For earbuds....klipsch s4i sounds better and also has the mic for 99 retail. And for the nice 300 dollar noise cancelling muffs...Bose blows beatz out of the water. They ACTUALLY block ambient noise out....unlike Dre day.

So that's my justification for not going with a rezound. Same ui...same style ...what's "really" new..not much

As for Verizon sitting on the nexus thinking its gonna fetch sales for razr or rezound ...it ain't....because folks are holding out.

i've messed around with the rezound today in the verizon wireless store. it is a very snappy phone, scored pretty good on some benchmarks 59.8 fps on neocore, nearly 55 fps on nenamark, and from what i recall 37 fps on nenamark2.

I was benching the gpu side of it, and it has done better than the Razr by far... hope the SGN is doing just as good... there sure is a lack of GPU benchmarks on the SGN so far :-(


btw, the phone does not feel thick at all either... the rezound felt pretty good in the hands.

ive had the rezound for a 2 days now and it is a very nice phone! but it does feel like the same stuff new phone. though its a great new phone. the screen is amazing! the phone is barely larger then my ex dinc 2 yet the screen is larger! its a great thing! As of right now, if i like the nexus, i will get it(i bought the rezound on the 15th:biggrin. if not, as long as the bootloader gets unlocked on the rezound, i will be happy with this phone. it is a great phone....period.

Why does everyone keep knocking beats? It is optimized for hip hop. I had 425$ Bose and if I turned the volume up past 75% it was over. If u like hip hop then beats is a MAJOR plus. And even if you don't the beats are free basically cuz without them the phOne would still be 300 w/new contract. And those beats are better than ANY headphones that. One with phones normally. I say beats is a plus. But still.... If u are a person that likes to rom, go nexus. If you are a regular person looking for a phone, go rezound because it helps with things you don't have to go downloading apps for.

The point people make with Beats is it's just software, there's nothing different about the phone other than Beats software. You could simply buy the ear buds if you want them and use them on any phone.

And people still listen to hip hop?

May have been discovered already but to add to the upcoming release confirmation, i actually got a verbal Confirmation from a Costco Cellular rap that the GNex would be in Cyber Monday or shortly after. :icon_ banana:

I had the Rezound for 2 days. I am as into performance as anyone but the one feature I absolutely need is battery life. I own a Thunderbolt and was hoping that the Rezound would get better battery life. It doesn't. Not noticeably. The screen is crisp but the colors look kind of bland. It was a little snappier than my tbolt, but no so much that its worth upgrading. I took it back and am waiting for the GNEX. Beats audio was nice but in my opinion you have to REALLY love music (hiphop actually, it didn't do much for anything else) to actually use it. They did sound nice when you listened to hiphop but if you really want that spend the extra $$$ buy some nice headphones and learn how to set an EQ. All in all, if you're coming from an older phone its a nice upgrade but not worth it from the TBOLT and I would imagine that the GNEX will be better. If its not I will take it back and wait 6 months to buy something then. I am one that actually likes sense but I don't think I like it over ICS. I will retire my OG droid (currently running the music in my car) and move the Tbolt to the OG droid's job. Just an observation.

From a D1, the Gnex will make the most sense to you. Its android unadulterated. From my experience, the last quality handsets HTC made were for windows phones. Sure, they're durable but sense is laggy, buggy, and every single HTC android handset is a total battery pig. Why should you need to buy an extended battery when you just spent $300 on a new phone? You shouldn't.

Samsung phones are excellent, and are the leading smartphone (I'm looking at you SGS2) for a reason. People who complain about samsungs build quality are just looking for a cop out critique of an excellent phone. I'll take a super thin/light Samsung handset over the thick and cumbersome Blunderbolt any day of the week.

Hardware for hardware, the gnex is superior in every aspect. (I am not interested in hype-audio) Its only downfall comes in the lack of an SD card, but if you are like myself and many others out there, you have an iPod because an SD card simply can't hold all your music. If it is an issue, Audiogalaxy becomes your best friend. Personally I'd rather.not have an SD card, as loading times (specifically photos) will be much faster internally.

Samsung's only downfall has been their lack of software support, but with Google holding the reins with their nexus branding, that will no longer be an issue.

Well, considering it is pushing 720p resolution... that is quite good... I was just saying, I hope the aged SGX540 can crank those type of numbers at 720p

I went to my local VZW store to checkout the RAZR and Rezound, as well as to see if anyone had any clue about the Nexus. For the most part, they were clueless on the Nexus and just looked at me with a blank stare and a "well, we should get it sometime this month or next month, i guess" response.

When it came time to play with the phones, I was a bit disapointed in the RAZR. As others have said in other threads, it just feels to light and thin, it didn't feel "right" in my hand, but im a big guy so maybe its just me. I did like how fast and snappy it was though.

Surprisingly, they had the Rezound hidden off in a corner with some cheap phones. After a few min of searching to find it, the demo unit that they had out was defective. The camera was somehow frozen on, so when I tried opening youtube or the web browser or anything else, the camera still showed up on the screen(for youtube, where the video would be, the camera picture was instead). Of course, when I then tried going into the camera to test it out, it wouldn't open properly.

Maybe ill try a different VZW location tomorrow or over the weekend and see if I have any better luck there.

From the reviews I've read, the MAJOR fault with Beats is it ONLY works with the Beats music player. It will not work with Google Music. That is the major fail.

There is some excellent commentary here.

I think that this thread is about someone who is looking for a reason to justify pulling the trigger early.

The best thing you can do is wait until all three phones are on those shelves together.
