i am using windows 7 64 bit system i am losing it this attempt has been taking about 90 min ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh now my phone is not recognized i get error code 43 and i redownloaded the driver i think im done so it finally passed now i just have to get the recovery to work crossing my fingers

OP and to all here who posted insight. A giant 'thank you all'. First day with new phone and took it to SC 2.5.

(I am a total newb when it comes to this and stressed for quite a while about not seeing an easy way to backup. I'd still like someone to show me if there is a way to take the phone back to square one.)

But 2.2 with flash is everything I wanted in a phone. Now I'm loading the apps I want.

First of all, Tapout, you are full of WIN! Nice and easy..love it!

Ok, so a couple of minor things I am seeing (or haven't seen in this thread) that spelled out, might make it just a LITTLE easier on folks. (the new new folks)

1. The instructions do mention putting the "update.zip" onto the SD card, but it's not mentioned that people need to flash that to get the new CWM (Clockwork Mod). I have seen posts with people asking why it boots into Samsung recovery. The original posts makes it seem (to those who dont know better) that CWM will be all installed and ready to go once they flash with odin and is all-in-one.

For those that are unsure, here is what you need to do:

**AFTER FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS IN ORIGINAL POST**

1. Power down Phone.
2. Restart into Recovery (Hold both volume buttons and power at same time, release power button once you see Samsung logo, release volume keys once you see blue text)
3. Using volume keys, select Apply "update.zip" and press the Home Soft Key
4. It should automatically convert to Red CWM.
5. You are done, select reboot phone.



when i try this step it says failed to open sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory signature verification failed instalation aborted

Quick question. The ones that say they do not wipe data or cache, are they just flashed in cwmlike a normal rom?

You can go to post #67....he has provided the 2.1 Odin ROMS in that post. From there you can flash back to the 2.1 original and do a factory reset. This should bring you back to right out of the box. Then you will need to do the necessary OTA updates from VZW.

download ClockSync from market and when prompted allow permissions...it will auto sync your clocks...just go into settings as specify how often

Works good with a few exceptions, need help please

I have had my Fascinate running this ROM for a little over two weeks. I found out that the DRM notification error I recieved was from my Corporate E-mail, so I removed the corporate email and solved that issue. This ROM works good except, once every couple of days I have to reboot my phone or it will freeze sometimes. The only other questions or concerns I have is I cannot get my Jawbone ICON Bluetooth to work for Voice Dialing, by pushing the button, but I can get it to answer with the push button, and I can talk and hear the other person. I am also having difficulty getting my phone to connect to my computer via USB to upload pictures.

Do you know of any solutions to get the Bluetooth Pushbutton voice dialing to work?

Do you know of any solutions to get the USB to connect to my computer so I can upload pictures?

Really enjoying SC 2.5. So much to learn and research tonight on Andriod and settings. (I'm on PPC and really want to control apps using data as I only have 100mb to play with. Wifi is of course unlimited.)

Questions:

Can someone explain or point me to a thread that explains.... why does NFS Shift and Tetris show as packages in task manager but I can't find the programs anywhere. Is this a remnant and if that's the case I'll uninstall it. If not I'd like to check out the NFS demo.

My battery from 8:00 till 1:30 is now about 53%. I did mess a lot with the calender and entries and 15 minutes of angry birds -but I am surprised the phone isn't around 75% battery life considering. ( I've done no synching as both wifi and data were turned off for 75% of this time) Any clues where I can look or solve the battery drain? (I will go to an extended battery if necessary)

you should just be able to download it from your phone, but make sure it goes to the root of your SD card. When I d/l from the web (on my phone) it goes to a download folder, I go into root explorer/astro and move it to the root of my sd card.

There are several steps on he first page of this thread. Trust me.....it took me forever to get it in my head too. Once you do it, it will be real simple the second time.

1) Download the udpate.zip-place it on your SD card not in any folder (do not unzip it)
2) download ODIN and your flavor of SuperClean. I would go with the latest as it has more things fixed and is cleaner than the previous version.
3) The flavor of SC you downloaded is in .rar form. You will need to extract it and from there you will get a file that has the .tar.md5 ending. This is the file you will need.
4) Follow the steps to place your phone into USB Mass Storage mode and USB Debugging
5) Power down the phone, remove the battery and insert the USB cord into the phone and Computer (make sure you had the drivers installed before this). Hold down the Volume down key while doing this. You will see a large yellow triangle on the screen.
6) Open ODIN and click PDA, go to the SC.tar.md5 file you extracted. Hit start and let it run its course.
7) You will see a pass in the ODIN screen and the phone will go to an all black screen and be powered down.
8) Remove Cords, Insert battery and boot phone. It will take a little bit for this to happen.

You really only need to go into using the Update.zip file if you want to install a new ROM over top of the other (ie....updating from SC2.5 to SC2.6) You can also use Update.zip to wipe battery stats and wipe data for a new install over an old one.
