OFFICIAL: 2.1 to release this week on the Motorola Droid

I'm rooted, I plan to unroot and go to 2.1.

How many times has someone mentioned that the droid has only been out for 3 months in this thread alone? Crazy to think the company that put out a phone ONLY 3 months ago is being ripped on for not getting updates out sooner. Remember, 3 months old?

If a year had gone by before we got an update, I would be pissed. But wait, we got an update in the first month for bug fixes. Two months later we are getting the new version, what the hell is wrong with you people?

Jeez. If you want to complain about software/hardware support go get a Blackberry.

No one would be *****ing if we didn't all feel like the red headed step-child in light of the release of the N1.

It's on a different network so who cares?? The Droid id VERIZONS flagship phone! I dont feel like the red headed step child! It has been out for 3 months man and is going to be updated 2!! Are you serious???

What to do.

As an avid car guy and owner of a Droid for less than 2 weeks, I have never been able to leave a car stock and am having a hard time leaving the Droid stock, I have been compiling stuff on rooting and over clocking. Rooting seems pretty easy, over clocking is were a lot of choices come into pay and at this time am still a little comfused, smupdater/sholes, BB, just not sure yet. W/the 2.1 comming out and beleive me, factory upgrades on anything does not impress me that much, but it keeps the warranty intact, whats a guy to do ? The 2.1 will not be an automatic update will it, I can decide wether I want it or not ? Quess for now I will watch and read and try and make an intellegent, w/the help of all of you's, what I will do w/my Droid.

The Nexus is a cheat HTC POS, it's had problems since it came out. It doesn't have a keyboard and we have a better screen.

I realize you weren't aiming that statement at anyone in particular, but just for the record, I'm not upset in the least about the Nexus One in any way. Just attempting a little comic relief, assisted by some classic literature.

Just to be clear, personally, I'm very happy with my Droid. I was just making a point that a lot of people are so impatient for the 2.1 update because of the N1 being released so shortly after the Droid's release. I don't care when we get 2.1, but I'd really prefer to not have a stripped down version of it.
