So we will not be getting live wallpaper? Wtf that sucks I been braggin to my iphone buddies now ima come up short gr...I don't understand is the nexus one that much more powerful? I thought droid does...I was hoping for a droid load up eye live wallpaper

Why doesn't motorola/google/verizon allow updates like 2.1 to be publicly beta tested. It would seem to work well by pacifying people like us and working out bugs pre-release. Chrome and Labs are publicly beta'ed and it seems to be working in those cases.

I really don't see why that option doesn't exist so i hope thats something that happens too. I want the nexus one haha. In all seriousness though does anyone know if the 5 home screens is a definate

And you pay how much for "Chrome?" And if it fails do you have an alternate browser? And considering how, ahem, "knowledgeable," many of those who root their phones are about the inner workings of their operating systems, just how would you suggest that the vendors evaluate the results of the beta testing?

I pay for Chrome what i pay for every update to Android. As for bug reporting the same way microsoft did when i tested W7 or Vista, with an app to report bugs and usage statistics. I don't believe you need to understand how anything works to report something like a force close everytime you do X or a reboot everytime you do Y.

I'm still not sure if I'm going to do the update to 2.1 yet, however I'm assuming that once someone gets the update we will have it available here to do manually correct?

Thanks Mapexvenus, I was curious what the official changelog would state. I am hopeful we will see improved battery life as well but we'll all know soon enough.

ugh nothing about 5 home screens...

yeah I gotta say, thats a real dissapointment not getting 5 screens. I'm tired of having to use all these other home replacements that eventually slow down the phone. oh well, the voice to text should be interesting. But I think in order to use it, I bet we have to use the android keyboard, so no swype. Will see..

Thanks for the info. Those are real release notes, so I think we can take them to the bank. That is what we are getting.

The depressing part is that anyone running a modded rom already has ALL of those features, and if we do the official update we lose our root access (at least temporarily, until somebody cracks 2.1 too).

Sucks that there is an official update coming that will actually REMOVE features from my phone

Really? No 5 homescreens? I could deal with omission of live wallpapers, but it's inexcusable to not give us the 5 home screens that the REAL 2.1 update includes. I'm really starting to get angry here, and the way this is being handled is probably going to ensure that I buy an "official Google" Android headset for my next purchase.
