Well, this is interesting...

Apparently Moto pulled the info off their website that was posted earlier:

This is all it says now:

DROID - Android 2.1How can I get the latest Android 2.1 software?

There is a release coming, check back soon.

Why continue to spam off hatred of an update? Can't we just lock this thing until someone actually receives an update?

what i dont understand, to the people who are really complaining, the article said that this is the 2.1 first version.
So whatever you expected from 2.1, your only going to get some of those enhancements, not all of them
so....why go ape**** over it?

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but Motorola has just removed the features chart from the official 2.1 list from their site. Now instead of showing February 2010, and showing the features chart, it says, "There is a release coming, check back soon."

Droid: official notes for 2.1 upgrade
Here are the offical notes. The update has not yet been released.

Update: How embarassing. Apparently we jumped the gun on these details....

If anyone from Moto is monitoring this topic they're probably leery about sending the OTA out. They may be in fear of a riot.
I think MOST users are extremely happy already. Put me in that group. We have a stable and reliable phone and thats the most important thing.

Having live wallpapers that I won't use and some dots on the drawer is not going to make my experience/device any better : )

I saw that and it is too funny and Moto own forum users are asking what is happening. This post is interesting:

Re: DROID: 2.1 Update Info From what I've been reading I don't want the full experience. The processor in the Droid is not fast enough for all the eye candy and would make for a lousy user experience. That is probably why some of these features are not going to be in the update.
from joelbon and does he know that the Droid has it OWN GPU which the Nexus One does not?

Sorry... off subject.

I had a feeling it was not going to be the tenth. When some guy says yah I am a ... with motorola or verizon and it is going to be ... I have a feeling they are not telling the truth.

I am extremely happy with my phone, as well. What makes me a little sad panda is that it seems that the version of 2.1 that Moto may release is a somewhat crippled one missing features touted as part of 2.1. The Droid is one of the leaders (along with the Nexus) in the Android community, I think it should be up-to-date and not be given second-rate updates.

Are those missing pieces a deal-breaker? No, not really. But do they kind of give your community of users a sign that they are second-best now? In a way, yes.
