OFFICIAL: 2.2/Froyo Issues and Support Thread [NON-ROOT]

imobsters and world war reset???

I backed up my bb 1.1 thankfully, after installing froyo all my Storm8 games have reset. This a huge problem for me lolol!!!! I restored my back-up and they are back with bb but I have now wiped all data and reinstalled froyo clean, 1.2 kernel and they are once again reset....any ideas? already tried titanium to restore data but no luck...

I'm posting this in several different areas because I'm getting a lot of PM's. Yes, I am now running Froyo. So far what I see out of it I like. It starts extremely slow but within 30 minutes it's flying.

Bluetooth voice dialing works, just checked that out this morning. I'm using the second to last lowest voltage kernal.

I'm not rooted, I used RSD Lite to load SPRecovery. Once you have that on your Droid it's just a matter of following the rest of the steps to install FroYo. I don't think of it as a custom ROM since on my platform it says I'm running Android 2.2.

I do recommend it for non-rooters. I think you will enjoy it.:)

Maybe this has been answered before...

What do we need to do to get the official 2.2 OTA update when Vzw decides to release it?

Welcome to the semi-dark side Hook

Depends. If you're running stock, nothing. It will come OTA. If you're not running stock then you need to go back to 2.1. For me the way I will do this is to use SPRecovery and load my saved OS I made before running 2.2(I think). Then I will have to remove SPRecovery. Rooted people will have to remove the root and flash 2.1 stock.

I did the 2.2 update as outlined in this thread... is there something in the instructions that saves your 2.1 OS or do you need to do that on your own (which I did NOT)

I did a back up of my 2.1 using SPRecovery before I did anything else. It was the first thing I used SPRecovery for.

I didn't use the instructions on the thread. I did it before this thread was started. Basically getting instructions from helpful people here in the forum. Somebody probably told me to do a back up first.

Hmm..Seeing Hook do this has now gotten me curious.
I will consider.
When are we expecting the official version?

Well, it really isn't known. Could be a week, could be longer. We just don't have an idea.

I was basing my earlier predictions off of words I was hearing about 2.2 arrival, however I didn't know that it was arriving in this form. Officially when it will be released, I don't really have a clue now.

ok...i think i am going to wait. I am in no rush.
Not sure where i heard it but this might be the last major update for the Droid...the rest will be maintenance updates...from what I 'heard'
so i might just wait for the official one..

No source?

Not sure where I heard it..i would like to provide a source but i think i remember reading about it on Endaget when 2.2 was first being revealed.
Thas why i said..i am not sure where i heard it. I was hoping maybe someone heard the same thing and may have gotten a source.
So...dont take anything what i said seriously since it came from the grapevine.
Actually, I am sorry, it was a combination of hearing about LTE and 2.2 working together. But..if i had a source..i would have provided it.
So...not worth getting into it since it is just talk.
But i will wait for the official 2.2. No rush for me.

Wow! After reading all that....I will have patience and wait for OTA update....as much as I don't want to.
