OFFICIAL Droid X Issues/Problem Thread

Anyone have the ringtones for incoming calls, alarms and alerts stuck in vibrate? No matter what I do all incoming calls alarms and alerts vibrate. All settings seem correct. I can play all ringtones and alerts in preview.

Go to settings > sounds > vibrate
turn 'always vibrate' off

Noise alerts.

I'd like to get rid of any noise for alerts.
Vibration would be fine, but I can do without that as well if I need to.
I'm retired. I don't need to check an email right away.
My friends call me.

Thanks for any advice.

P.S. I've noticed a lot of complaints. I guess I was lucky.
My GPS works fine once I get out of my building. No GPS works in here. The building is over 100 years old and has lots of iron.

you need to be stern with Verizon.. I have had SEVERAL phones.. several different phones in my year with them so far.. this is my second droid.. didn't like it the first time.. returned it.. got a blackberry storm 2,, hated it.. went back to my ENV touch... then back to another droid.. which i now love.. i started the year with a voyager.. you just can't take no for an answer.. and don't do it over the phone.. go into a verizon store..

So now I have to go around asking friends if I can borrow an old VZW phone that they're not using. Am I the only one who finds this disturbing? I had the DroidX for a total of 3 days and it died on me. I am a new customer who switched over from AT&T and this is how they treat me? I saw the worse customer support and concern tonight. Sadly, I am stuck with VZW for two more years.
You're not stuck with anything. If you're that dissatisfied with VZW, why not just get out of your contract and go back to AT&T? You are still within your 30 day return window. And if the phone was defective, chances are you won't even have to pay a restocking fee.

I swear, it seems as if some people stay in bad situations just so they can complain about it.

Why shucks, thanks for being an a-hole! :)

More info to fill your sarcastic behind on:

When I left AT&T, I paid a cancellation fee that I will not get back. I also paid an activation fee to join VZW and they told me they would not refund this fee to me. If I went back to AT&T, I would have to pay ANOTHER activation fee to get BACK onto their service.

So I pretty much would be out of $175. Why should I be out of $175 because VZW shipped me a faulty phone? I'm the consumer here, and I have a right to be upset about a faulty product they provided me with.

You think VZW would be going out of their way to get people to switch from AT&T and then do whatever it takes to keep them happy.

Those of u having GPS issues have faulty devices. I have never ever had any issues whatsoever with GPS. That is with 2.1 and now 2.2. If it were a real problem, every Droid x would be experiencing it. Get a replace and be content.

uh yeah.

"scuse me, but can you replace my droidx, I can't get my GPS to play nice with froyo"

wut!??!? you have froyo on your DX?

oops.

I downloaded the 2.2 and I can't download anything off my sd card. I downloaded and tried to install the dx 2.2 lockscreen cause mine disappeared but it was for rooted dx and mine is not. I think maybe a file got replaced or deleted. I get the message directory then the name of the application.zip could not be loaded followed by java.util.zip.zip exception:expected end of central directory signature

Just returned my second Droid X in two weeks! The first one couldn't deliver more than one bar of signal (90% of the time it was at 0) at my home. Previous phone (motorizr with Verizon) always delivered full strength signal. Verizon phone rep concluded that it was a hardware issue. Received the replacement phone in about ten days. The signal on the replacement phone was much improved (consistently 2 to 3 bars, and at times full strength), however, after 5 days the phone developed the banding problem (thin magenta line running vertically across the screen). Verizon store rep confirmed the dreaded (less than one-tenth of one percent of all phones) banding issue. Here's the rub. I ordered my first Droid X online, and it was delivered FedEx (since I work, I knew I would miss the first delivery and had to pick up the phone at FedEx). Since I ordered online, I had to return the defective unit via FedEx, and receive the replacement via FedEx (again, missing the first delivery and having to pick it up the next day at FedEx). When the replacement developed the banding issue, the store rep offered to order a second replacement (third phone) -- I asked when I could pick it up. He checks, discovers I'm an "online" customer, and tells me he can't accept the defective phone, that I need to return it via FedEx, and that the third unit could only be shipped to me by FedEx! Being 5 days away from the end of my "30-Day Worry Free Guarantee" I've decided to give up the fight! I shipped back the defective unit and reactivated my old phone. Sorry to see it go, as it was a cool phone, but the Motorola Quality Assurance team sucks! Two, too many issues and far too much hassle with Verizon! Plan is now to dump Verizon (since I revert back to not being under contract) and move to the iPhone! End of rant...

Ok it's my second day of having the X and on the whole I think it's great. I had the D1 and really liked it, but never used the hard keyboard, which prompted me to get the X. So it figures that every complaint I have is about the virtual keyboard on the X not being as good as the one on the D1.
1) Capitalization of I
2) The autocorrection of words just isn't as good as the D1.
3) I know it's silly, but I really liked the damn Droid Emoticons, I thought they were a lot of fun, I want them back.
4) The D1 actually knew the word Droid. How can my DX not know that word. You'd think that'd be one word they'd absolutely put in their dictionary. Strange.

Oh and the sound could absolutely be louder when it's put into the media dock. I tried watching Star Wars (no Droid should be without that) and found the sound to be not very loud, which I found strange since when I put a call on speaker it's more than loud enough? Weird.

Is it just wishful thinking to hope that Froyo will correct at least some of these issues?

Not only does mine capitalize the letter I, but it also recognizes the word Droid. I think something is up with your phone

That's very strange, since I've ready many threads where people have the same issue. Are you already running 2.2? Does anyone else's phone capitalize I's? Hmm if it's just a random issue, perhaps then when 2.2 gets pushed it'll cure it.

My phone with the standard android keyboard does not capitalize I's. I ended up buying Better Keyboard, but apparently 2.2 fixes this obvious oversight.

Yeah I've been running 2.2 since it was leaked with no issues with the keyboard.

Cool. So hopefully 2.2 will fix everything I'm complaining about, except maybe the emoticons. I miss the little Droid's but I can live without them I suppose. lol
