OFFICIAL Droid X Issues/Problem Thread

Voice mail notification: I get none. I could have several but there is no icon in the task bar. Am I missing something. Forgive me if this has been covered.

Messaging --> Menu --> Messaging Settings --> Email --> Notifications --> Check the Notifications (Status Bar) box.

I tried that, but still showing me in florida. The verizon guy says i have to have the gps satellite on for it to work, but i was told that you only needed the assist and wireless on. I'll give it a while to see if it fixes itself

Read through this entire thread but didn't see it mentioned...
3-way calling does not work on either of our company's DXs. After 3 levels of VZW support and another 2 levels at Moto, all they suggested was doing a factory reset (which didn't work).
Tried *228 on my own and still no joy. In reading posts on other sites, it appears this issue may be geo-centric (i.e. users in Denver can't use it unless they try it while in another geographic market).
Thoughts? Thanks

I have the same problem. I'm in Fort Collins but I'm not sure if it's location related or not.

Funny enough (to me anyway), while VZ had me on hold while they were talking with Moto about it I kind of figured out a work around...

- Make your first call
- once that's established, tap the +Add Call button
- tap the green phone button at the bottom of the screen. This should give you a dial tone.
- dial the number of who you want to conference in (the dial tone will go away)
- again, press the green phone button at the bottom of the screen
- after a second or two you should hear the second call ringing and see a Merge Calls button. You can press this now or wait until the person answers.

There are some issues with...

- when dialing the second number you can't use your phonebook. You have to dial it by hand.
- when you press the green phone button and dial, the person on the first call can still hear you talking and dialing. Luckily, once you press the phone button again it seems to put the first call on hold while it calls the second person so the first shouldn't be able to hear the second person answer until you press merge calls. At least that's they way it's worked for me.
- if you make a mistake in dialing its a bit goofy to cancel the attempt. If you realize you made a mistake you can use the back button to edit the number before you tap the green phone the second time. But, if you already tapped the green phone the second time you have to wait for the Merge Calls button to come up and then tap it and then tap the End Last Call button that comes up until you hear nothing or the original call (it seems to cycle through a slow busy, a dial tone and then the original call). At this point you would press +Add Call again and start the process over
- If it's all worked up until now and you're done with your conference call you can drop both people by pressing the End Call button but you cannot select which call to drop. This seems to be a limitation of how the "app" is designed. You can, however, press the End Last Call button to drop the second call you made. This seems to work but the screen doesn't change. The top of the screen still indicates that you're in a conference call and the End Last Call button is still visible (It will still cycle through the slow busy, dial tone and first call but it won't get back to the second call, thank goodness)

Once you're completely done you can just press the End Call button to drop the whole mess.

Hopefully, this works for you and it's not too much info. Let me know if you have any questions.

Not only does mine capitalize the letter I, but it also recognizes the word Droid. I think something is up with your phone

That's very strange, since I've ready many threads where people have the same issue. Are you already running 2.2? Does anyone else's phone capitalize I's? Hmm if it's just a random issue, perhaps then when 2.2 gets pushed it'll cure it.

Yeah I've been running 2.2 since it was leaked with no issues with the keyboard.

Are you using the standard (multi-touch) keyboard or Swype? I personally use the Swype KB and love it. I can type with one hand or two using Swype or standard typing techniques. just my 2-cents.

Some things you could check...

On either of these KBs, go into the settings and verify Auto-capitalization is turned on. You could also check if Word Prediction is turned on or not.

I'm not sure about the multi-touch KB but I know you can add words to the dictionary for the Swype KB. Just type the word by hand and press the space key. It automatically gets added.

I have to appolagize to everyone for my impatient response yesterday,I was pretty upset trying to figure out this Great new phone. Yes the Droid X is a great smart phone and I did'nt take the time to go through the help information section which is located on the phone,Duh who would of thought of that. It which pretty much spelled out a lot of things i was looking for to learn basic funstions about the DX and even has a series of vidoes to watch. I also stopped by Verizon Wireless and I tell you everytime I go to the store they are always willing to help me and send me to the right direction for any answers or solutions regarding the DX. The sales rep spent a good 20-25 minutes with me and never hesitated to leave my side till i was done asking any questions,Thanks Verizon! And there is a setting built in the phone to stop the applications from running that your not using, caution once you power the phone manually or take the battery out they will turn on again. I found 27 applications all running and no wonder the battery was draining so fast. And there is a task killer app in the phone already i downloaded one last eve only to find it in apps area. I decided to use the setting in DX's menue applications setting ,running serices and also manage applications settings. This helped a great deal for the battery will have a final reading tomorrow to see how much better batter life last.Know that I'm learning all the cool tricks and uses this phone has I'm starting to enjoy it and it's great features. Thanks heavy load lifted off my chest today!dancedroid

I saw a post somewhere about issues with outlook on 2.2 and that the roll-out might be being pushed out. I'm supposed to bet mine today. Will be interesting to see if it is 2.1 or 2.2........2.1 I suspect.

I turn the phone to vibrate but only calls vibrate. Please help

In your phone settings, do you have it set to Vibrate always and have the silent mode box checked?

Also, if you toggle the volume rocker on the side while on the home screen, you should see ringer volume - make sure this is on vibrate as well and the vibrate notification icon is in the notification bar.

When i go to settings it only says vibrate for calls how do i make it vibrate for everything

Does it give you an arrow on the right for a drop down menu? If not, you should also be able to go into the app settings of your SMS, email, etc & set all them to vibrate.

I am running 2.2 but I was sure the option was there in 2.1...
