I can't get my DX to boot into recovery (via clockworkmod ROM manager, bootstrapper, or manually). I'm rooted 2.1, got SU permissions applied. any help?

I tried to use voice activated call and it says location unknown ,do you want to set a location? I say yes and brings up the contact profile and I look there is not a text field for a location. Has anyone had this same problem?

I love my X... but I have two issues...

Since I got mine in July (I'm coming from a D1), I don't get any market notifications whatsoever unless I'm IN the market... I've tried factory resets, making sure the settings are set to notify me, as well as a plethora of other things Verizon techs have had me try (as nonsensical as some of them were!!)

My other issue started yesterday. I've had the phone since July and have never had an issue with my gallery until now. I try to scroll up while in 'camera roll' and it turns black and puts me back to the gallery menu screen. But if I hit menu> go to> (another section or date range) then it works normal UNTIL I SCROLL DOWN TO THAT POINT!!! Then it goes black and takes me to the gallery menu screen. I'm assuming a file got corrupt or something... but when im in landscape it'll let me scroll through them all

I could only find mention of this by a couple of people but no real fix aside from downloading D1's gallery, which I now have installed and working fine... but I don't like things.not working properly... I hope there's a fix... mook!

I ended up re-formatting my SDcard :icon_evil: I should have just downloaded another gallery program. But eh, whatever. Not really a happy camper thus far with all these issues.

I spent a huge chunk of time experimenting last night and found a fix to the gallery issue. I think its caused by a corrupt file that the X's gallery has a seizure trying to read, thus why it boots us out back to the main gallery screen when we come upon the area with the problem.

Here's what I did: I noticed that if I hit menu>go to> another date range, then the gallery scrolled fine but as soon as I hit that particular area it would bump me back to the main gallery screen. This told me that there was a file or something right there that was giving it a fit. Soooo...

I went on my computer and after trying moving all my files, reformatting sd and moving them back to no avail... I then just deleted the pix and vids that were around the area that it was having a fit at... I deleted like 63 files and voila! It works fine now... so somewhere in that block of 63 files I deleted was a file causing the issue. I'm thinking of experimenting by adding some back at a time until I find the culprit.. but that can take a while so I'll just leave em on my computer now, Lol!

I sure hope our experiences and fix help someone!

But.. my.market notifications still don't show up unless I'm IN the market... sooo weird... I don't know if it's device related or what... they tried replacing my phone but the first one they sent me had a PINK hue to the screen and a huge oil slick like appearance on it... so I sent that back and they sent me another one which ended up having 3 white pixels out on the screen in camera mode!!! Now they're saying they can only send me a certified like new one even though my original replacement was within my 30 days, its not my fault they sent me TWO with screen issues!!! So I guess I'll just stay with this one, for now anyway, I love my X, I wonder if Froyo will work better on it.. I can't wait!!!

Lots of Small Problems

idk about this droid x. it seems like with as much development as they put into these phones, small simple errors would be a thing of the past. for instance, the crappy music player. All my files from itunes transferred to my X (although not as easily as advertised at the Verizon Store), but the interface of the player is unimpressive. the only way i was going to keep this phone was if it were comparable to my ipod touch as far as music goes, and so far the ipod definitely wins. also my friends say that i've been sending duplicate text messages as many as four times per message. this morning i plugged my headphones in and the phone called my mother? not even sure how that would happen, but it did. the facebook app on the X is crappy too, why even download the app if half of app takes you to the browser? overall i'm simply very frustrated.

You can download a great number of good music player apps via the market, unfortunately every stock program from music ,calendar, contacts are bare minimal as the phone is supposed to be compatible with thousand of applications free and non free to customize any way you like. I downloaded a the dolphin HD keyboard, color notes, sirius xm radio, touchdown app for outlook and calendar sync. This phone is a wonderful advancement in the smart phone market and I like you are very new to it , but if you look around and read all the helpful information in the phone and on the forums I'm sure your DX is going to win your confidence.dancedroid

mobile hotspot on droid x keeps shutting down

My mobile hotspot keeps turning off after a minute or two and sometimes just seconds. I tried all security settings and tried turning off some of the things i saw in forums but nothing works. I saw one person mention this but never saw any answers. Is this suppossed to be fixed with 2.2? I can successfully connect to my laptop every time but the hotspot always turns itself off. Im so mad that im paying $20 extra a month for this and it wont work properly. Any information will help. Thanks.

As Jamb said, Android phones are meant to be highly customizeable so people can have them the way they want them. There are some great music players on the market such as Music PlayerPro, for example. The beauty of these is you put what YOU want on it how YOU like it =)

As for your text mesages duplicating and the phone randomly making a call when you plugged in the headset, that could be a hardware issue you should report to Verizon.. they might have to replace your device as that is NOT typical behaviour for it...

As with what has been said previously - there are several music player type apps in the Market - I use MixZing and it works well...

Sometimes, apps will not "mesh" together which causes simple glitches..i.e. sending multiple texts - you can do a factory reset or remove apps which you think might be causing the problem. As mentioned by the previous poster, unwarranted dialing sounds like a software issue - report it to VZW and look at a possible replacement.

Droid X Memory Dump When USB Cable Plugged in for First Time!! Help

I'm new here, so if this has been answered, someone please refer me, I can't find the answer....

I just got my Droid X and I plugged it into my laptop via usb cable and instant blue screen/memory dump/ IRQ error. Can't find the solution, but must be driver somewhere. I'm not too pc savy when it comes to that, but would really appreciate someone walking me through what needs to be changed. As soon as I plug it in, it crashes..... I want to put my music, etc. on the card and am not able to. Please help me.... Kim

All you have to do is load the card onto the pc with thumb sized card reader,u find in drug store,wal-mart,radio shack and download to the card directly and set back into DX and presto your phone will let you access it. Also there are a couple windows fie to download go to motorola DX site and search for your Windows OS.
