OFFICIAL Droid X Issues/Problem Thread

Here's one I tripped over this morning...I looked for something similar here but couldn't find it.

Woke up this morning to a dead Droid X. Don't know why, but it wasn't having any. Plugged it in USB, got a green light and that's it. Battery pull didn't work.

THE SOLUTION for those who might run into this:

1) Pull the battery and the SD card.
2) Plug it in with the power outlet. I usually charge mine USB off my server but this time it wouldn't work. You should get the White M.
3) Put the SD card and battery back in. It should charge.

Not sure what caused mine to die; last I knew I'd shut off WiFi for the night and the last thing I was using was Adobe Reader. If that app is as resource-hungry as the PC version it would explain things but just in case anyone else gets this little surprise this is how I fixed it.

My most recent issue is that my ringtone change without my doing anything....very weird and has me on edge a bit thinking something may be up with my X.

Yup, it's me. I've heard a lot about ringtones changing on their own on these, but I've heard that on a lot of other phones too; had it happen on my BB Tour and my LG EnV from 150 years ago.

My phone doesnt seem to be charging well. I think the port is going bad. Becuase I have to plug and unplug it several times, and turn the phone the right way, and make sure the stars are aligned for it to to charge. What can I do?

Also in my market one of my apps says its updating but everytime I open it its still there.

First, do you have case cover? If so, I have seen where they can interfere with a flush connection of the charging cable.

Second, try a new charging cable.

And third, try a new charger (make sure it is one with the SAME specs as your original).

Out side of that, you'll have to get a warranty replacement for the port. Unfortunately I have had the same problem with a number of HTC devices I've had (replaced 2 Imagios for this problem). Knock on wood, I hope my Droid X continues to function perfectly. I love my Droid X. Muah! Don't worry, that was directed towards my Droidette X.

I have a gel case but even when I take it off I have a problem.

Last night bc my phone died at my friends house I used his charger and had the same problem and it was freezing up when I tried to check my email. I have the same problem in my room, in my car and at my friends so I dont think its the cord.

Droidette, ahaha. I love my phone too, alot, I just just am very aggrivated about the charging issue. I have warrenty on my phone do I have to pay for the new port or no?

Can anyone help me? When I try to go to market on droid x it tells me to sign into google I try and it says cannot establish data. I called verizon and even took the phone to the store no help what kind of crap is this. HELP ANYONE.

Try resetting data/cache for Market app:
Menu> Settings> Applications> Manage Applications> all tab> Market
force stop, clear cache, clear data.

It'll take a minute when you first open Market after that for it to verify your apps list, but hopefully it'll start working properly again...

I have changed from a Droid to a Droid X. I am having 2 related issues.

1. WIFI does not seem to work. I get network unavailable errors when turning on wifi.

2. Using a "cover" gave me network issues when using 3g.

Is there some way to test? I am connected to my wireless home network but it does not seem to stream any data...or connect when using games, apps, phone calls, etc.

auto text issue

I am having a problem with my auto text box. Whenever I hit “a” I get an auto text box that comes up. The first word, you would think would be “a” but it is not. The first word that comes up is “al-anon”? I am not sure why. I cleared my dictionary and have looked everywhere on forums to find a solution but no one seems to be having this issue.

I have even tried to turn off my auto text box off, but it still comes up when I hit “a”.

All I want to do is be able to type an “a” without having to choose “a”. This is very confusing to me because you would think that if I started typing “al-“ I could see the auto text picking out “al-anon”, but to think that it is trying to figure out what an “a” is hard for me to believe.

Droid X- On my new phone calendar opens but then immediately closes. I have added new widgets but same effect.

I haven't being able to update or install app from the market, I keep getting install unsuccessful message. Started like 2 week ago trying to update pocket legend, so I drop the game.
3 day ago it started happen again with angry bird reg and season. It also happen with a few small app.
Anyone know what is my problem? My dx is unrooted have the last Verizon version, but this before the update.
