OFFICIAL Droid X Issues/Problem Thread

My "Market" app has disappeared after most recent update to version 2.3.15.MB810 - sorry if this has already been discussed but i just did this update. When i attempt to open the market it says "this application is not installed on your phone". I tried to reset the cache but the application doesn't show up in the settings anywhere. Where exactly does one re-download the market?

Sorry once more if this is a simple question but i am at a loss. thanks!

You are going to have to perform a factory reset - this will bring back your Market

BUG? Screen Backlight stays ON after unplugging charger!

Has anyone noticed that under certain conditions the screen backlight stays ON indefinitely after unplugging charger??

Plug the Droid X into the charger, turn the screen OFF (touch the top On-Off button), leave phone to charge, unplug the charger. Look carefully at the apparently dark blank screen in a dark area--The screen backlight is ON and remains ON (does not time out). If left alone the battery will run down quickly.

Log into the phone and log out--the screen will return to normal behavior.

This appears to be a hardware BUG.

TRY IT.

I've never had that happen....had mine for several months now.

I'm guessing it's an app that's trying to keep something alive... Have never seen stock phone (nor couple ROMs I've tried) do this.

This happens to me a lot, even though I'm on 2.3.340. Sometimes I wouldn't have to have the charger plugged, it would just do it when I turned the screen off.

Did anyone who downloaded that new Gingerbread keyboard .apk have problems with it?

When I turn it on it comes out tiny and squished. =/

Solved

I am having a problem with my auto text box. Whenever I hit “a” I get an auto text box that comes up. The first word, you would think would be “a” but it is not. The first word that comes up is “al-anon”? I am not sure why. I cleared my dictionary and have looked everywhere on forums to find a solution but no one seems to be having this issue.

I have even tried to turn off my auto text box off, but it still comes up when I hit “a”.

All I want to do is be able to type an “a” without having to choose “a”. This is very confusing to me because you would think that if I started typing “al-“ I could see the auto text picking out “al-anon”, but to think that it is trying to figure out what an “a” is hard for me to believe.

I found out that I need to highlight the word once it is in the texted box and "quick tap" the swype key (the key in the lower left corner of the screen, with the finger and blue line, and it will ask you if you want to delete the selected word.

Droid X- On my new phone calendar opens but then immediately closes. I have added new widgets but same effect.
I had the same issue and I needed to set up my Google calander on the computer first and then let the calander sync to my phone. I hope that helps.

Yep, it's called a "Hidden Word" problem. If you look into your Swype help (Settings - Language & Keyboard settings - Swype - Swype Help) under "Adding Words to Swype" it will talk about how to add words and remove words, which is essentially what ske722 just said. Good luck.

- This is of course how to get to the info on a Droid X. If you have something else, you'll have to figure out how to get to the help on your own.

Jz.

Camera Sensor

Everything on my camera is "overexposed". The sensor appears to not recognize the ambient light. Is there any way to calibrate the sensor.

The camera worked perfectly a month or so ago.

EDIT: DisRegard... I posted settings for the AOSP camera, not the BLUR camera. :S
I'm sure BLUR Camera has the below settings too.. I'm just not sure exactly what they are called (etc.).. :S

Probably not the issue, but the first things I would check:
Under settings, make sure the following are set:
Focus mode: Auto
Exposure: 0
Scene Mode: Auto
Color Effects: None
(You will have to scroll down for the lower settings)

Also, White balance: Auto would probably be good to verify...

If all of those settings are defaults (what I listed above)... then you could just wipe cache/data for the camera app... Maybe that would reset it (?).
