~OFFICIAL: FRG01B FroYo Issues/Solutions Thread~

if you have a task killer, get rid of it.

Android comes with it's own "background" task killer. not to mention 3rd party task killers have been known to cause battery problems.

I think i will give this a try. Every time i do "kill" these apps they come back every 10 sec. and i'm just getting fed up with it.

once again, the Android OS comes with it's own task killer.

when you exit an app it doesn't use anymore memory, therefore not drawing any power from the battery.

3rd party task killers are always on watch, therefore use battery. you can get rid of them altogether.

This is coming from a Droid user who used ATK at one point. I noticed once i ran 2.2 my battery would drain like crazy so i got rid of it. Haven't had a battery problem since.

Anyone find a solution to the screen timing out in the mycradle? I liked when it stayed awake and I could see my home screen.:)

got my OTA 2.2 update and looking thru settings > location & security > Select Device Administrators.

What is that and how is it used?

Droid Search Issue on Froyo????

I used to be able to go to Search either by using the Search Bar widget or going to the Search button on the bottom right of the phone and opening Search and then click on the Microphone button, Say "Find Nearest Appplebee's" or any other business and it would bring up the Map and show it. Now, no matter what I ask for it just brings up Google and a pagefull of links to what I have asked for. It is not specific to any rom, as it does it on my phone running the UDE 6.0.0 rom and my son's phone running Stock Froyo 2.2. Anyone having this issue? It needs addressing. That search feature was the first thing that the Verizon rep showed me when I looked at the phone and it sold me on the Droid.

That sucks. Have you tried "map applebees" or "navigate to applebees"?

Wait...you're not suggesting that this is an insidious plot by Google to take down Applebee's, ARE YOU!?!?!??!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: I just tried "find nearest applebee's" on stock droid w/ 2.1 and it just did a google search for it. What now?

I am positive it used to work the way I described. It will open Navigation if you say "Navigate To---" but any other way now just does a Google search. If yours is doing it also there has to be some app that is causing it. I used to get a round symbol that had a circular progress bar just before it opened Maps after saying "Find Nearest"---- but that no longer comes up. I would downgrade my Maps app but there does not seem to be a way to go backwards.

Help! No silent mode after recent update

So, I updated my phone last night when I got the message that there was one. However, I now no longer have the ability to put my phone into total silent mode, the lowest I can go is Vibrate. I've even tried long-pressing the power button and selecting Silent from the "power off" menu, but that still only goes to vibrate. I work at a spa and I can't have my phone making any noise if I get a call, yet I still like to use my phone at work.

Have they just really hidden the silent function, or did they remove it?

Saying "Map Nearest"---- does work. Wonder what else has been changed with Froyo in reference to Voice Commands? Is there a list of known Voice Commands? If so where do I find them? Nothing on Google that I can find.

Pandora put out an update today (v1.4) and it sounds 100% better. I hadn't realized just how poor the quality had gotten with 2.2 until I listened after today's update.

Downloaded the users guide, here are the only commands for Web Search. Figured there would be more than this.

Say “Call,” followed by a name from your contacts, followed by the kind of
phone number (“mobile,” “work,” and so on)—for example, “Call Mike LeBeau
home.” If there is a single match, the number is dialed automatically. See “Dialing
by voice” on page 78.

Say “Directions to,” followed by an address, name, business name, type of business,
or other destination, to get directions to that location from Google Maps.

Say “Navigate to,” followed by an address, name, business name, type of business,
or other destination to get spoken, turn-by-turn directions to that destination.

Say “Map of,” followed by an address, name, business name, type of business,
or other location, to view that location on Google Maps.

I tried these, they are very quirky. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. You need to say commands in a monotone flat voice.
