~OFFICIAL: FRG01B FroYo Issues/Solutions Thread~

I've been running the non-OTA FRG01B build, rooted (now unrooted) for a few days, mostly without issue. Here are things I'm noticing:

  1. I can't download/install updates for Google Voice Search or Google Gesture Search.
  2. Alarm clock seems to be missing from Apps.
  3. Wi-Fi bars are at 0, but Wi-Fi still works.

Anyone else come across these yet?

E:/sdcard/update.zip not found

already have another rooted 2.2 rom and want to upgrade to get rid of issues.
in settings under phone the build number i have now is voles-userdebug 2.2 FRFxx 33333 test-keys
when i put the new update on sd card and rename update.zip it says cant open and instalation abborted.
i have wiped 3x and tried, also tried another download and the download that comes named update.zip.
any help would be great!

I am positive it used to work the way I described. It will open Navigation if you say "Navigate To---" but any other way now just does a Google search. If yours is doing it also there has to be some app that is causing it. I used to get a round symbol that had a circular progress bar just before it opened Maps after saying "Find Nearest"---- but that no longer comes up. I would downgrade my Maps app but there does not seem to be a way to go backwards.

*****Update*****
Saying "Map Nearest"---- does work. Wonder what else has been changed with Froyo in reference to Voice Commands? Is there a list of known Voice Commands? If so where do I find them? Nothing on Google that I can find.

Downloaded the users guide, here are the only commands for Web Search. Figured there would be more than this.

Say “Call,” followed by a name from your contacts, followed by the kind of
phone number (“mobile,” “work,” and so on)—for example, “Call Mike LeBeau
home.” If there is a single match, the number is dialed automatically. See “Dialing
by voice” on page 78.

Say “Directions to,” followed by an address, name, business name, type of business,
or other destination, to get directions to that location from Google Maps.

Say “Navigate to,” followed by an address, name, business name, type of business,
or other destination to get spoken, turn-by-turn directions to that destination.

Say “Map of,” followed by an address, name, business name, type of business,
or other location, to view that location on Google Maps.

I tried these, they are very quirky. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. You need to say commands in a monotone flat voice.

Pretty dang ironic that this comes out today- Google Voice Actions

Anybody else having an issue with the gallery not working right. Hardly any of my pictures are showing up and even after letting it sit for quite a while they never load. I can even click on the empty spaces and it comes up like normal but there is nothing there.

Scratch that i got it to work. After taking a picture my main gallery began working. I also have several other galleries with pictures in them that weren't coming up. I connected via usb and accessed the sdcard in windows. In each folder (with pictures), I changed the file name of 1 file out of each folder by just one character and also did some organizing. After doing that then reloading the gallery all is well again.

I'm having random reboots. 2 since I installed this thing the other day. Does anybody think a wipe would help? I've ran Cache-mate on it.

Did the charge Orange/Yellow LED go away?
Also I am hating the lack of total silent mode when pressing down on the volume button. I use that for work and it is hassle to turn vibrate off and on each day.

Home screen will not auto-rotate.

Installed non-rooted update. everything looks good so far, home screen will only auto rotate if i expose the keypad. Apps auto rotate. Checked display settings and they are fine. Auto rotates if I place it in the home dock.

Any help? thanks

Same here. Thought is was just me. I used to use Helix Launcher for my 5 screens. I forgot that it should rotate with the stock screens.

As I understand it, that is how the homescreen works in Froyo unless you use a home replacement. I kind of like it. Was using a home replacement in Eclair but the redraw for rotating always took too long.

Power Search App issue

I recently got the 2.2 OTA. Since then when I use Power Search, it doesn't search my calendar. That's the most important use I have for it. I've uninstalled and re-installed without success. I've contacted the developer too, but no fix yet.
Anyone have any other suggestions. Or is there another app that will search the phone? Not using the Google calendar.....but the stock/Touchdown calendar.

Thanks for any help.
