I am positive it used to work the way I described. It will open Navigation if you say "Navigate To---" but any other way now just does a Google search. If yours is doing it also there has to be some app that is causing it. I used to get a round symbol that had a circular progress bar just before it opened Maps after saying "Find Nearest"---- but that no longer comes up. I would downgrade my Maps app but there does not seem to be a way to go backwards.
*****Update*****
Saying "Map Nearest"---- does work. Wonder what else has been changed with Froyo in reference to Voice Commands? Is there a list of known Voice Commands? If so where do I find them? Nothing on Google that I can find.
Downloaded the
users guide, here are the only commands for Web Search. Figured there would be more than this.
Say “Call,” followed by a name from your contacts, followed by the kind of
phone number (“mobile,” “work,” and so on)—for example, “Call Mike LeBeau
home.” If there is a single match, the number is dialed automatically. See “Dialing
by voice” on page 78.
Say “Directions to,” followed by an address, name, business name, type of business,
or other destination, to get directions to that location from Google Maps.
Say “Navigate to,” followed by an address, name, business name, type of business,
or other destination to get spoken, turn-by-turn directions to that destination.
Say “Map of,” followed by an address, name, business name, type of business,
or other location, to view that location on Google Maps.
I tried these, they are very quirky. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. You need to say commands in a monotone flat voice.
