~OFFICIAL: FRG01B FroYo Issues/Solutions Thread~

Yeah, I just unistalled my task killer. Im not sure if thatll help but...
Ever since i Updated(FRG01B) my phone is running slower, my battery is draining like crazy and my wifi keeps going on and off and im having to pull the battery a lot because it FREEZES after charging on the dock AND its getting hot! I read in another post that verizon is rolling out with another OTA update (FRG22) VERY soon, like the next couple of days! So lets pray that will solve the issue.
Plus im kinda tempted to go ahead and root with easy root app because people are saying its working with 2.2! I just gotta figure out how to perform a back up AFTER or BEFORE the ROOT and how to do this. Im pretty familar with the terms but not really sure how to to a back up or nan droid back up. Do i need to connect it to my computer THEN do a back up or what? I know there is a million guides on how to do it but not sure if its the same when using the easy root app. ? Any suggestions?

Factory Data Reset. That will clean everything up and have your Droid running like brand new.

This update cannot make your Droid run slower. It has to be something else.

If you want to use easy root it will make a back up for you. Back ups are made before the root.

I am having the same issues as TopDroid.

I manually updated to 2.2 FRG01B and immediately began encountering the following problems:

- the phone becomes extremely slow or completely unresponsive (freezes/locks up) and I have to do a battery pull.
- the phone becomes hot, much hotter than usual
- the battery drains very quickly
- the phone reboots randomly

I have tried the following:

- uninstalling all downloaded apps
- deleting all personal/user data from the SD card
- factory reset

Nothing seems to help

Any suggestions before I try out Verizon tech support?

Also, I am getting an error message "process com.android.google is not responding"

i just spotted another random reboot today ... the stability of this update is starting to concern me ... perhaps a full wipe and reinstall of the full rom may be a good idea ....

Hey bro, I had to take my phone to verizon and they gae me a brand new Droid!! NICE!! Not sure if theyll do the same but they should at least replace it with a refurb one. Dont tell them you install SPR though.
I think the SPR sbf. for 2.1 does not play well with 2.2 FRG01B. I know that there will be more people with this problem. Anyways, im running stock 2.1 right now so hopefully i can root again now with better luck! LEt me know if you have any questions. Alot of people helped me out with this, even though nothing really worked, i felt like i learned alot from the process. lol!

I just realized you didnt install SPR so never mind that part. But yeah, just take it back. I think your phone is done for but i could be wrong. Ask some of the mods what they think.

Which Verizon location did you take it to? I am in the Atlanta area, so I'd like to think I'd have better luck if I took it to the same one you did.

Send calls directly to voicemail not working in FroYo

Ok, I just learned about the "New Feature" about the Sound > Vibrate > Silent feature now in FroYo being changed since 2.1. New setting in Settings.

But I have noticed that my Send calls directly to voicemail isn't working as it did in the past. Anyone else having this problem after upgrading to 2.2?

This is the last little change that I am having a problem with. Pandora, Flash and everything else so far working great. I do like the improved speed as well as several of the additional features. And you can even make a call on it too. Go figure.

Ain't technology grand.dancedroid
Thanks

What new setting in settings? At this point my phone will not vibrate. I have the option of vibrating while silent, and I get the vibrating phone icon, but no vibrating for calls or texts or emails. I've tried it in the vibrate wen not in silent. Basically vibrate is broken. This along with all the other problems I'm now having really makes me hate this update. I loved my phone, had no issues with it, now I want 2.1 back.

Go to Settings > Sound and there are new settings there. As in the Android 2.2 Users Gide it reads as follows:

Sound settings
Use the Sound settings to configure how and at what volume the phone rings, vibrates, or the Trackball light pulses when the phone rings, you receive a notification, an alarm sounds, or when you play music or other media with audio, as well as some related settings.

Silent mode
Check to silence all sounds (including call and notification ringtones) except the audio from music, videos, and other media and any alarms you have set. (You must silence media and alarms in their own applications.)

Vibrate when silent

Uncheck to prevent the phone from vibrating in place of playing ringtones and notification sounds when the phone is in Silent mode, irrespective of your settings for individual applications.

Volume

Opens a dialog where you can set the volume of ringtones that sound when you receive a phone call or notification, media (music, videos, an so on), and alarms. If you uncheck the option to use the same volume for both calls and notifications, you can set the notification ringtone volume independently.

Phone ringtone

Opens a dialog where you can select the ringtone to sound when you receive a phone call. Touch a ringtone to listen to it. See “To use a song as a ringtone” on page 279 to learn how to add your own music to this list.

Phone vibrate

Opens a dialog where you can set the phone to vibrate whenever you receive an incoming call, only when the phone is in Silent mode, or never.

In their mind, I guess, when you have in it Silent mode, you can decide to make it vibrate or not whith these new settings.

I have am now using a widget called SilentMode OnOff that allows you to decide if you want to have Vibrate on or just have it totally Silent or have it make noise.

The user guide is 336 pages long and have a lot of the new features in it. Guess it's time to RTFM.

Cheers

What you just posted told me to do EXACTLY what I've already done. I have it in silent mode. I have the option selected to vibrate ONLY in silent mode. Yet it's not vibrating.

So RTFM isn't going to change the fact that my phone won't vibrate at all.

I would check each application setting... In each one, for each account, don't just see what it say, re-set it again. I found that after I did the update, some of the settings seemed to have reset or were not set. The one posted before doesn't seem to be 'global' for all applications.

My Droid seems to be running slower. When in home screen, I have to wait a few seconds for my Widgets and apps to appear... are the two new pages doing this? Is it my live wallpaper?
I have a feeling that my solution is to go with a static wallpaper, or removed a widget or two. Anyone else getting this, or have a solution?

I'm definitely having this problem. I have removed all widgets and I use a simple black wallpaper and the problem persists.

Same issue here...Anyone find help on this?
I can't seem to find a solution trying myself, or online.

Got the 2.2 update today...

Read the prompt, and initiated the install, and my phone locked up on the "M" screen, and I could not get it to do anything else.

So, I went to the Verizon store, and they tried, for 20 minutes, between the sales lady, and the tech and they could not bring it out of the "M" screen. Battery pulls, resets, and a few minutes in the back, with no success. So, the upshot is, I am getting another Droid, which will be sent overnight to me. As I am wrapping up, one more person walks in, with the same issue. The sales lady said that my phone was the first one they had seen like that.

Not sure what the problem was, but it's being resolved, and that is all that matters .
