****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

I should add that I am non rooted, FRG01B, manually loaded last week and had no issues prior to that.

I suggested installing the full update rather than the patch we installed last week. After the update do a battery pull. That sped my phone up a lot between the partial manual Froyo install and the full manual Froyo install.

What I'm noticing, for the most part is, the ppl who are reporting they have recieved OTA, other than the one from Atlanta (I'm in Macon by the way....75 south of that), are coming from the Northeastern part of the country. Other than the person from Atlanta that I reference, any report of anyone from the South who's recieved the OTA?

Yep....I am in Savannah and mine was up and waiting this morning when I woke up at 6am.

Good afternoon,

I was asleep during the previous OTA update notification to 2.1, so I have this question: Is my phone going to play a notification sound and/or vibrate when it receives the update notification, or do I have to keep pulling it off my belt clip every two minutes and checking to see if the message has arrived?

Thanks,

You know, I've never received an OTA update so I don't know if there will be an audible alert, but you will definitely know it when you see it.

Unless of course they send it while you're sleeping again.

lol, where you live has nothing to do with how the update is pushed. Again, it's completely random.

So the speed increasing is different than those who have rooted and overclocked to 800? Whats the difference?

Absolutely nothing, except one very important little thing:

it is now officially sanctioned by VZW/Moto; so it no longer voids your warranty.

The 2.2 kernel now allows up to 800. Is stock 2.2 actually running at that or do we still need SetCPU to get it to actually run at 800?

We should institute a mandatory "Root" or "Stock" tag when talking about the updates. So many people are discussing download of either OTA updates or updates for rooted users. It's kinda hard to keep straight.

I too did the manual (Stock) FRG01B update about a week ago and it's been a touch buggy for me. Some people have said to do the update to the 76MB version, but others seemd to make that sound like it was for root users.

I'll get it figured out eventually, it would just make it easier for people to give some sort of tag as to what they are talking about, that way I can either ignore or pay attention to them. :)

Is it true you can just install the new larger update over the smaller update from last week? When it first came out some said you had to go back to 2.1 while others said you simply had to root. Now some say just run the update file over the last one. Is this true?

I'd like to know that too.

I'm going to have to research this again. On the front page of the Froyo circus thread it says it won't install over the other update. Logically speaking, I don't see why it wouldn't but let me check again.

No. You don't need SetCPU and it only works if you are rooted.

Technically speaking this is suppose to be for those who received the official update. Rooters should probably have another thread.

Go ahead and do it. You shouldn't have any issues.

Has anyone who manually updated to 2.1 instead of waiting for the OTA received the 2.2 OTA notification? I know everyone said that manually updating to 2.1 wouldn't affect the ability to get further updates, but I just want to be sure.
