****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

Yep, you are right. My apologies. I was quite ridiculous with a double pun intended at me (being ridiculous) and on me for not thinking thoughtfully or being sensitive to that choice of words. Thanks for changing it. If the six men that use to sit around me for 12 years had heard my "Yea" --the day would have been theirs! I thought I was mindful but lesson learned. Thank you.

To update the sound issue I WAS experiencing and having talked to the folk that work with me and asking about file associations and rollouts and the such I have changed the sounds. If an email notification did not vibrate before, it does now, if was quiet--it's now loud....I found two corrections on my part in e-mail accounts needing setting checked there. Two out of three accounts were silenced. -2 for error on my part. ON the other account plus text sounds-- not sure. The network guys and help desk guys said sometimes a rollout causes items like music and sounds, or pictures to needing pulled back in and sometimes its just because the memory forgot to put it in simple terms. My problems are resolved.

wifi not connecting

Since getting the update my droid will not connect to my wireless AP in my house. I have not tried it anywhere else yet. Was working fine before the update. If I go into wifi settings and click on my network name and then click on connect, the Wi-Fi line at the top of that page flashes scanning then authenicating and then disconnected and the text under my network name goes from "Remembered, secured ...." to "Disabled, secured..."

Double-check the password you have entered. In fact, delete the profile and try again. If the problem persists try another AP. The drivers may have been borked in the update, but the most likely cause is a bad password/profile.

Deleted and re-entered it twice still not connecting. Also tried power cycling the phone and the AP.

Next step is to try another AP. Did you get the update OTA or did you install manually?

OTA

I will try with another AP at work tomorrow.

Is your SSID being broadcast? It doesn't sound like you have quite the same problem as me, but when I had SSID broadcast disabled my WiFi indicator on the home screen would only show a the single bottom dot (still got 11+Mbps in a speed test). When I went into the WiFi settings the signal strength would fluctuate from poor to excellent over and over again. Enabling SSID Broadcast has fixed my WiFi problem. I didn't have this problem before Froyo 2.2

The SSID is being broadcast. Signal strength is excellent.

my phone is waiting to install update froyo 2.2 update.. do i install, will i stay rooted? or do I decline?
thanx

Since the forum search has failed you, let me answer that as simply as possible.

Any OTA update breaks root. You cannot decline because you will get nagged to reinstall every 20-30 minutes. If you have a custom recovery image it will block the install but you will be prompted regularly to do the install after it does. You will either have to install and then re-root or, if you have a custom recovery image, install a custom ROM or a rooted ROM version of the update.

OK - so I finally took the plunge after receiving the OTA and having some sluggishness and used the 76MB update.zip.

I wiped my Droid and during the reboot, I pressed X and then the Camera and Vol Up - I made it to the recovery mode and updated.

Apparently, this was the wrong thing to do (I did not let the wipe process complete befory applying the update) as my Droid was very weird - had to call verizon and get them to walk me through manual activation as it repeated the activation prompt over and over. Then I went to the Gallery and selected a background - it put a different picture for me to set as my background (from another folder). Then my videos would not play at all.

I reset the phone again and this time still had the manual activation problem, but everything worked correctly. After this, I felt that maybe the Gremlins were out, but I applied the 76MB update AGAIN over the new install, and it seemed to work out quite nicely and much more smoothly.

BUT - I unplug my droid in the morning and look later at the battery use and specifically, go to what has been using the battery. I pick cell standby - and my droid was unplugged for about 5 hours and shows 10 hours (and shows 50% of its time without a signal) - it is as if the clock is counting double in this category (perhaps others), but definitley this one. Has anyone else seen such behavior with FRB01B? Is this only related to my bad experience with the update somewhat botching?
