****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

any way to fix the whole, blank screen and waiting a full minute for icons to appear after hitting the home screen, thing?
It's called a redraw and the short answer is no.

The long answer is:

There are some tricks for rooted users to help, but stock phones cannot do it at present. You (yes, even stock) can try an alternative Launcher, like ADW or Launcher Pro and see if they have a "keep in memory" option, but that has the potential to cause stability issues and won't stop all the redraws. Doing a factory data reset will help, but then you'll have to set your phone back up.

I use Launcher Pro and haven't had to use the keep in memory option to banish redraws; I've found adjusting the other settings to be enough. Probably varies widely with what you're running and which Droid.

If the heat exchanger is getting to hot there is a venting problem. Anytime you have an issue with a gas furnace or water heater, always check the flue vent to make sure it is clear and drafting properly. Read over the manufacturers installation instructions for your specific unit.

No, no, no, the flay-rod is out of skew on the treadle.

Downloading Froyo now

Am downloading Froyo to my Droid X now - Boston, MA

Customers do not have to wait for the over the air push, they can obtain the official update via the device itself by following these steps: “Menu” > “Settings” > “About Phone” > “System Updates”. For more information and step-by-step instructions please visit www.verizonwireless.com/DroidXsupport.”

Woohoo!

My download was successful! I'm not rooted...too chicken. There was a tiny bit of lag time when looking through apps but it seems to have corrected itself. Now, I'll play and see what I can find! I have the Droid X.

Whoa, in all the fun I missed a message from VZW. They sent me the update on the 15th. Because I'm all up to date, thanks to you guys, nothing was sent.
I'm at Ver. 2.2 FRG22D. got Adobe flash and update.

I've flip flopped with ADW vs LP. The last update to ADW did something and I got a lot of FC's and slow redraws. I re-loaded LP and Wow, I don't think I'll update this version. Very fast, very stable, and so far no re-draws. (has anyone else found that they finally get an app right, and then mess it up with the next update?)

I just jumped straight out from Fruit Ninja to my home screen and no redraw!

No need to root. Just do a manual install and you'll be golden.

You download the file, name it update.zip, put it on the root of your SD card, and then reboot the phone into recovery, install the update, and when you reboot (which usually takes quite a while), you'll be running FRG22D.

Need the instructions and a link to the file?
