Often imitated, never duplicated! Focused 1.8.6

Just like with adding in the blur camera... I know this rom is meant to get rid of all the blur but basically the only thing I am missing out of this rom is the landscape function of the blur dialer/caller when I send/receive calls. Is it possible to recontent it like you can with the Fission blur camera and if so does anyone have a link?

Thanks

Unless I'm mistaken, the Blur dialer is far too integrated with the rest of the Blur framework to ever be able to work on Focused. Have you looked on the Market for a dialer replacement app? I'm a fan of Dialer One, though I don't know if it has the landscape support you are looking for, as I rarely use landscape for anything other than movies and games.

PS - You should look at rubiX Blurry if you need the Blur apps. It's very solid, and astonishingly fast for a Blur ROM.

Blur camera works on Focused, Blur dialer won't. aContacts, and DialerOne have been recommended in the past... but know that they are just a front end for the stock dialer.. they don't replace it.

2. Step 10 above "10. Link Google Account" - wont this auto-install all your apps that you have synced with Google? Should I disable/enable automatic application restore?

I personally think you should disable the automatic Google restore functionality before linking your phone to your Google account. It means you have to manually install and configure all of your apps and settings, but that's better than letting Google automatically install something that may muck up your nice clean ROM.

Just my .02.

From personal experience... the Google Data Sync is amazing for restoring apps. Here's why I like it (as opposed to restoring from a backup application like MyBackup or Titanium)...
Google Data Sync doesn't RESTORE the application. It uses the Market app, and actually downloads, and cleanly installs the app.

I am however in agreement, that manually configuring things is time well spent.

Any thoughts on why my screen won't turn off automatically? I've tried the screen timeout function at 15 seconds, 30 seconds, and 1 minute. The screen dims after about 10 seconds, but never turns off.

--When did it start?
--What did you change just before this started happening?
--How often does it happen? As in, can you recreate it every time? or is it Random?
--Any applications that are supposed to control battery/CPU/Memory management (autostarts, task killers, memory managers, etc.)?
--Theme? Restore anything from backup?

Suggestion: To fix, first thing I'd try, is to install Focused again, dont' wipe cache. Then put things back on a piece at a time, until you find what's causing it...

USB-
Not sure on this one, but the first place to start, is to make sure you have the latest 4.7.1 drivers on your PC.

Honestly at this point, this issue is the reason Im SBFing back to prior to blurry .3 and doing a clean blurry 1.5.2 install. The issue arose in blurry 1.0 after a day or so and has never gone away and its frustrating to no end. Ive completely uninstalled the phone from my laptop and desktop pcs and reinstalled 4.7.1 on both and it continues.

Dunno about signal, a couple others have stated they're having this issue.. Have you re-activate, and re-set up roaming (both options after dialing *228) as well.. maybe that'll help?

i did the *228 last night and it seems to have helped. didn't think about the resetting up roaming though but will once i flash back to blurry.

i think my issues regarding the restarting are b/c of my lcd density mod in the build.prop. another reason im going back to blurry as it never had the issue.

Sound Settings-
Drod is aware. There was an app included with 1.6, that didn't function as expected. Nothing in the ROM currently to do this, unfortunately.

looking forward to an update and coming back to focused once the bugs are worked.

Contacts-
I don't know of another contacts app that works properly with Focused. Right now, this is what is avaialble.

The build.prop tweaks.. search for Beesley's posts for this, tons of info at xda-developers site.

Good questions.. sorry if I was short on some, and/or didn't go into detail... But should get you started in the right direction!

contacts not a big deal, it just creates a second step in the dialing process.

the build.prop edits ill have to take a look at again. ive done my own manual build.prop editing each release but didn't look for those specific mods.

thanks again for the support. i was quite happy with blurry and have been VERY impressed with focused so far. id really like to stay on focused, but im really at the point of phone to wall contact b/c of the usb and sound issues right now. to save my insurance deposit im going to sbf back, see how blurry 1.5.2 does then consider focused in the near future.

Code:
vm.swappiness = 0
vm.min_free_kbytes = 2048
vm.dirty_ratio = 95
vm.dirty_background_ratio = 60
vm.oom_kill_allocating_task=1

Silly question here, but there are spaces before/after the "=" in the first 4 lines of code, but not on the last line. Should there be? Or should there not be, just like you have it? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it works both ways. I know for a fact that the " = " method does, so if in doubt, change it to that.

Edit: and that's not a silly question... I initially thought maybe that was why sysctl.conf wasn't being recognized and played around with different variations. So good question!

I should have know to put all this info in my inquiry, thanks.
First thing I tried, before reinstalling 1.8.6, was a reboot, and it worked! Screen correctly times out again. Thanks!

Thanks! I added the spaces. Now I'm charging my phone to full and then I'll delete battery stats.

I have a silly question too. What does changing these values actually do that results in better battery life? Just curious.
