Often imitated, never duplicated! Focused 1.8.6

love the app widget picker btw...i have a question. i think this is related to using titanium backup of user apps tho. I wanted to ask before I deleted it tho. According to titanium, I know have car home 2.2 and car home 2.2.1 installed. I think the 2.2 version is from TB and the 2.2.1 version is from the Focused. Can I delete the 2.2 version?
Thanks

But a real potential for issues galore.
I dunno if i'd say that....I have gone from Rubix .5 to 1.0 to 1.6 and now 1.8.6 without wiping data.

My phone runs like a champ, no issues, no reboots, nothing. Only issue I had was from installing a theme which I knew wasnt compatible anyways. Heck, the phone still ran good with it, lol.

But of course I could just be very lucky. And yeah there is certainly a chance for issues.

You sure you went from 0.5 to 1.0 without wiping? It caused bootloops if you didn't wipe... :) Lucky is an understatment! ;)

But yes, always a potential for issues.. 1.6 to 1.8.6 is not a HUGE change to framework, so it *may* be safe... but please PLEASE if you don't wipe during install.. and later you start having issues, then wipe data/cache BEFORE posting problems!

Edit: bleh, was putting words in other people's mouth there... got rid of the wrong quote brackets. :S Fixed... :P kinda.

You know, thinking back your right, cause around that time I tried Blurry also, and wiped going from Blurry back to Focused which was between .5 and 1.0, so nevermind. No wipes since then though.

And yeah I understand about the possibility of having issues down the line. Im not worried, worst case scenario I wipe later ;)

PS- Which is also why I never complain about having issues, aside from the gallery issue I was having a while back.....which ended up being an issue with my SD card and not the ROM, and after reformatting the card everything was great.

Honestly though, this ROM couldnt be more rock solid!

I've been happy with Wireless Tether for Root Users, so can't comment on the 3G Hotspot. But as for the App Widget Picker - you can't see it, as it isn't really an app per se. But when I long press a home screen to add, then pick "widget", the next screen is organized. Example: in all previous roms, the "Android Agenda Widget" has 11(!) versions I'd have to scroll past to get to any other widget. With 1.8.6, there's now only one icon for Android Agenda Widget, and in small type underneath is says "(11 widgets)".

This is an AWESOME addition, thanks DROD!!!

edit: looks like several people beat me to it while I was typing. whoops. :-)

ANGRY BIRDS FIX!

Backing up with my backup pro (APK + DATA) has worked! I have all my progress on rubix 1.8.6!

And I do like wireless tether, but honestly because of where I live and the type of internet provided I've been using the 3G hotspot as my primary ISP LOL. But anyway, it does work a lot better than the tether.

Trying to use Titanium, or any backup app is known to cause issues because it can reinstall data that may not be completely compatible with your current setup.

Haven't noticed the 3G Hotspot app...not that I'm dying for it, just curious...

It appears that auto reboot into recovery has been implemented in this build...is there any way to disable that? Thanks

Drod,
Nice touch adding the app widget picker, one less thing I have to install when flashing this ROM.

I just got done making a zip with this and the keyboard manager app that I could flash after installing a ROM. This might be something nice to add to future Focused versions...

Ive just installed after only a cache clear so I will let you know if it goes ok for me. i have quite a few apps installed.

i still dont fully understand the 2.2.1 thing...i know someone asked about it a couple pages back but i thought that 2.2.1 broke camera and mp3/mp4 and that kind of stuff?? also is there anyone running this and still on the leaked 2.2...ive never done the 2.2 OTA so just want to make sure this wont cause any problems..if i install this and ever have to sbf or anything like that i still use the 2.1 sbf right??

This won't cause problems.
This is NOT a full ROM/Leak/update/whatever of 2.2.1. Framework components from 2.2.1 were used..
Understand the concern, but this isn't the 2.2.1 update, this is Focused updated with some of the 2.2.1 components...

Edit: I've never OTA'd, I still .sbf back to 2.1 when I .sbf.
If you install this, and you ever have to .sbf, you use the same .sbf you did before you installed this.

Which version of the .sbf you use, is based on which version of the bootloader you have. ROMs DO NOT change the bootloader on the DroidX, only the /system dir. So this ROM will not change anything...
Hope that clarifies...

Can you fix the boot animation? All of the pieces don't line up and it has been slowly driving me crazy whenever my phone reboots.
