About that Droid 2.0.1 update ... | Android Central

For those of you (and us, too) waiting on the Android 2.0.1 update for the Verizon Droid, the Boy Genius Report says it's tracked down the upgrade schedule. Some of you may be in for a treat tonight; others might have to wait a couple more days.
At noon today, approximately 1,000 people received the notification to update their handset. At around midnight this evening, 9,000 more will receive it. After the initial 10,000, there is a 48-hour waiting period. No one after that receives anything until December 10th at 12AM, which will be 200,000 people. It will continue at 200,000 devices a day until everyone is updated.
Needless to say, we'll be waiting up to see what happens. And while you're waiting with us, why not join in the upgrade discussion in the forums.

So if you didn't get it last night. 2 days til we see if we luck out.

I just got an update notification but it turns out it was for Google Maps. LOL...thought it was the system update. :) Still waiting!

What a complete bull_ _ _ _ update system. They should do a OTA and allow users to go to verizon on their Droid unit and manually download it.

Got mine updated last night. Took a while for it to complete and was a little laggy at first. Wiped out facebook account info.

Unlock screen is nice, you can still follow the arc movement to unlock/silence/ignore call. Glad since it is the natural movement of your thumb.

Camera does seem to take nicer pictures and is faster.

I use GDE home replacement and it now rotates through screens wicked fast.

Will be testing handsfree phonebook synch a little later.

Haven't made a call on it yet, so no idea if the echo problem is gone yet. This has been a thorn in my side as I did not want to get rid of the phone, but it was causing issues since I do tech support and customers were complaining.

Seeing as there is almost a million units now, what happens when you inundate the system? It breaks. I'm sure that verizon just wants to test the waters on the first update. 1000 to make sure their OTA works and the update infact DID go out, another 9000 to make sure that their systems are working correctly. Then they start the true roll-out of 200000 users per day. This is a pretty decent way of doing it. Not only that, they were reportedly going to have it out on the 11th, why are people so upset that they didn't get it before that date? While I can understand wanting to be one of those who have already gotten it, i know that if i get it before the 11th i'm doing better then what they originally reported on the release date.

I didn't get it either :( Guess I'll have to wait till after the 10th too.

Not that I'm complaining, I've not had any problems.

i didn't get the update yet... not a big deal at all. why are people so offended that they weren't the top 10,000 users on a randomiized list?

anyways...
