OTA Updates Possible Before The 11th?

does being on a wifi conection help with the update process, what can you expect when your droid receives the ota upgrade as far as any notifications ext.
the update is being pushed across the network, not the internet. so no, wifi will not help.

Hmm that kind of debunks the theory of the release schedule.

yeah I was skeptical about the release schedule in the first place.

Didn't make sense. Only 1000 on the first day and we have a lot of people here that already have it. The odds of that happening are slim to none : )

I think it's just going to be a steady stream of pushing out the updates throughout the next few days.

Yes thats what I was thinking as well.

I'm with you guys as well. I'm just going to sit back and wait for it to arrive. Absolutely loving this phone.

Ones of the feature of this update is "improved battery life". Has anybody who has received the update noticed any difference yet? I know its still early, but I am dying to know.

it has ZERO to do with geographical location. While there may be users in certain places to test and make sure their units work fine over the local towers. Just because a person down the road got it, in no way means you will. It seems to be a completely random pool of people. Most likely trying out their towers to make sure they all work fine with the update. Seeing as there are many spread out all over the country.

I believe the following:

If you get the update now, you will be depressed later, at least until the rumoured 2.1 release in January, at which time you may perk up again.

State at your Droid, try to make it grab the update notification by pure force of will. You will lose, the Droid cannot be pushed. :)

The lock screen; well, I thought the "wheel" implementation was nice, but can live witht he new one as well. If you own a Droid, you should be open to change!

The new widget look: Awesome, yet still functional, goes better with the overall look of the phone (cmon, white power widget??)

I'm staring at mine in the dock, waiting, but happy with it so far in its first week.

I'm also sure 2.1 will have its pluses and create a few minuses when released as well, but lets remember, that is not an update, but a revision of the OS, should have more pluses than minuses in its corner... you know, every odd release .... :)

Ohm yeah, hasnt happened yet, and it is my birthday, cmon droid, give me my present! :)

Haven't got the update yet but I'm certain there will be mixed opinions on this one. It really depends on how you use your phone how much your battery goes down.

Even the first day I had it after charging to 100% I went down only to 15% by end of day and that was constantly playing with it. I'd say that the battery usage on this is comparable to what it was on my Storm 2.

How do I unsubscribe for a forum?? I get about 10 thousand emails a day from this thread pushed to my droid haha...I can't have it updating every 5 seconds!!

I received my update this morning and my wife got hers last night. No issues so far, seems to be running smoothly. I'm in Los Angeles, purchased the phones from Dell.com about 2 1/2 weeks ago.

No idea about the improved battery life yet.. will take a couple days of varied use to figure that out.

I've read pretty much the whole thread but I'm still unclear about 1 thing. When you get the update notification does an alert play? Every time I get an email my hopes go up only to be dashed by another useless piece of electronic information.:)

Has anybody who has gotten the update use their phone only a little?

I was wondering if the idea they send it to the highest call volume users first has any validity.
