Overclock - A REAL new phone experience.

** I am currently at 800. when the 2.1 updates is OTA, will it go back to 500? After this 2.1 update will we have to then again wait for someone to root it and then wait for this program to figure out how to overclock 2.1?? **

GentleFury Backup Question

Hey Gentle Fury - Does your backup actually make the Droid overclockable to 800 when installed as a Nandroid restore or does it need to be applied after installing a new kernel/ROM? Thanks in advance for helping out and for providing the backup files.

Brio

I am complete confused on how to do this. Does the phone need to be rooted?

Run 'adb shell su' (all directions provided with single quotes should be run without including them). If you don't know how to do this step comfortably, there is lots of good info on AllDroid starting here: AllDroid - View topic - Important Droid Threads.

This step is confusing, I go to that link and see nothing that seems to help me.

If you can get it to a point of doing a nandroid restore you can use my backup....I've built it over the past month from things that have been cool...no custom rom tho, so its really really fast.

800MHz_glass_vkb-BS-20100128-0226.zip

includes, root/busybox, 800Mhz, Mobile Defense in System, Voice Keyboard, Glass Theme, and removes corp cal, email and visual voice mail (they are all still there, just need to be renamed if they need to be restored), and wifi tether (you still have to install the APK application, but it is ready to go)

I tried bugless beauty 800Mhz and it was really slow in comparison.

EDIT: Nevermind...I got it. I ran the 800mhz img under DroidRootPro. Woops. heh.

I just ran gentlefury's backup and it installed without a hitch....But now I have new problem. I bought and downloaded SetCPU but when I click on 'autodetect' it goes to a black screen, sits for about 15 seconds and then forcecloses.

Any ideas?

well..

i installed this earlier expecting something epic.. and.. its slow. im at 800 mhz. and i have had 1 reboot. with NUMEROUS force closes. it says memory available is 10k... out of like 230k... idk whats going on. phone takes forever to come up. its just.. slow. its good. everything added in is great. but it just.. runs crappy. no offense. i just dont know whats going on. before this i had busybox, glass, etc.. 800 mhz. and it ran smooth. very smooth. but now its choppy. and the milestone browser it comes with is weird. every time i scroll the text becomes really thin. and then i stop and it goes away

help?

@blitz -

Try this:
Power down
Pull battery
Push and HOLD the power button for 10 secs
Replace battery
Turn it on

-report results :)

BTW - which version did you use? Bugless Beast?

I've used 800mhz, 900mhz, 950mhz, 1ghz, and 1.1ghz and all have been flawless. I finally settled on 1ghz and haven't have any problems with it (been running 1ghz for a few days now).

Yes if not rooted everything will go back to stock. I currently have updates disabled and will be sticking with my OC 2.0.1 until they show me a feature available in 2.1 that is a must have.

Yes all the work is done, install that and you will be running at 800Mhz....best to get SetCPU tho so you can set profiles for sleep downclocking.

Here bro, follow this link and follow instructions. You must have messed something up along the way. Good news is, you can go back to where you were.

Let me know if it works out. It should. Read the posts, some people had a few issues but it seems they all got back to stock 2.01.
