Exactly, further best buy doesn't supply your cable. If you were stealing cable, your cable provider would and could shut you down. I still fail to see how people can realistically argue that tethering is not stealing. Talk about denial. Its amazing

How are you stealing something you pay for (data usage) ?
Now if you hacked the network and got data for free (like stealing cable) then you certainly should have to pay . Tethering is not using the network without paying , you are paying for the data . If I flashed a ROM on my Cable box I bought that allowed me to watch through a laptop with a USB cable , am I stealing something I pay for already ? Although I am using the Cable Box outside it's intended purpose the data is paid for every month .
If I break into my own home am I a thief/robber ? NO !

You DO NOT pay for unlimited data for anything you want. You pay for unlimited data for one device and one device only. How do people not understand that. The analogies are all just justifications for making yourself feel ok about tethering.

If the data is coming through that device then how am I stealing ? I use the device outside it's intended purpose but the device is still being used for that data , I am not transferring the ability to another device then using it , the device in which am I paying the data usage for is still the data portal .

Don't be obtuse. You know you're trying to play semantics.

Here is an analogy for you.....

You have cable internet, your neighbor does not. So you run a splitter to his house so he can steal cable for free. How is tethering any different than that? Yes you pay for the cable but you don't pay to supply every Tom, Rich or Harry.

I bet even if people didn't tether they would still do this. They just like cramming their bloatware down our throats. It's pretty stupid if you ask me. We have to suffer through bloatware and waiting for updates.

Any chance we can merge this thread with the other one? Same topic two different threads gets tough to keep up.

That is why I still have my Droid! I've been eligible for an upgrade since last October. I'm not changing until it dies!!!!!

This is ridiculous! Why does everyone associate root with free tether! There are plenty of tether ap's on the ANDROID MARKET for nonroot users. Cracking down on root users has little to do with tethering. Think people, there is obviously something being overlooked here. The question that should be asked is what the motivation is behind locking down devices and eliminating root.

I just wanted everyone to read this. And then read it again. If you're not sure about it, read it one more time. This is absolutely correct.
Sorry , but will have to disagree .
I do not tether , and probably never will , but rights are rights .
As long as I am using the device I am paying for the data usage on , it should not matter what devices I connect to with that device as long as that device is used for the data portal .

Absolutely wrong if the ToS says there is a separate fee to tether other devices. What is so hard to understand about this point?

I tried sticking with mine but it just didn't have enough ram. I traded my fiance for her D2 and just loaded GB on it. It's pretty smooth so far. I'm still waiting on something truly great to use my upgrade on.

Yeah and I pay car insurance on my first car and it should extend to every other car I purchase with no extra cost to me. Ridiculous that it does not

How is he stealing if you are giving something you yourself a paying for .
I have a well and give my neighbor water from that well it is mien to do so .
Now if I have city water and share the water and accept payment , and key word would be "accept payment" then it would be illegal .
If you tether and using it exclusively for your own purpose and not selling the data then you are not breaking any laws .
Maybe greedy corporate laws of greed , your getting a service and we are not exploiting you for it .
