Lol they are telling you what to do and there's not a single thing you can do about it...except of course post on df about how greedy they are...

Or boycott until they see our side , money talks and so does loss of it . dancedroid

Yea, the <1% of the millions of users that actually root and care about this is really gonna make a difference.

Apparently we make enough of a difference for them to invest untold millions and risk pissing people off and shutting down the open nature of their Android devices in an effort to thwart us from removing bloat or changing our icons.

So which is it? Are we too insignificant to be noticed, or are we a huge problem and stealing millions of dollars and putting their livelihood at risk?

The thing is it has been going on for years with the iphone before the supreme court made the decision.

I am pretty sure they knew full well of the stealing you are all putting so much emphasis on when considering the ruleing.

Apple can now only prevent jailbreaking but cannot take any direct action against customers who jalilbreak.

Seriously why the **** do you all think it is a different situation? The ****ing iphone has done it, updated it and even improved several times over tethering/no data restriction without paying a dime to at&t and verizon. The supreme court ruled in favor of modders for not only the iphone but several other moding communitirs.

Damn sure if they ever acted beyond them tracking rooted devices. They would get a giant foot of lawsuits from eager eternities shoved up their ass so quickly verizons next commercials will have popsicle stick people

this is a joke you are all thinking you matter? There is a reason itunes and the app store own 98% og the market. Many ppl had ipods before the iphone came to the big red. To think we matter when u look at modmyi.com you are looking at the wrong community as far as make an impact in the moding realm

this ALREADY HAPPENED WITH THE IPHONE when apple tried to butt**** cydia holy hell im getting blue in the face now. I dont think Verizon is so stupid to take a direct action and not know of the supreme courts ruleing. If they don't I am sure they soon will and forget any ideas of this

axlx, please stop with the language. Yes the filters are catching it for the most part, but we don't prefer that either. This is a family friendly forum.

Exactly, further best buy doesn't supply your cable. If you were stealing cable, your cable provider would and could shut you down. I still fail to see how people can realistically argue that tethering is not stealing. Talk about denial. Its amazing

Because for the 50th time, how can I steal data, when I am under my personal limit, that I am already paying for??

It isn't theft any more than buying a song from iTunes, and then plugging it into your car stereo and listening to it there instead of directly through the iPod.

Man, you guys are perfectly ripe for whatever the VZW marketing department spoon feeds you. Luckily there them, there are more of you than there are of me, so they can get away with it and laugh all the way to the bank.

What's ripe is that you think that when you buy a smartphone data plan that translates to a free ISP for your house. And again...if you really think "it don't matter cuz I pay for it", why don't you call VZW and tell them that instead of whining about it here? Because, you know "it do matter", or since you claim that there's "more of us then you" why don't you boycott VZW? Seriously, you people all blow the same smoke with no substance. It gets tired after a while.

Where have I or anyone else said that I expect a free ISP for my house?

You are arguing a point that nobody has made.

1) I am not using it for an ISP, I pay $70 a month for Comcast for that.

2) I am also paying $130 a month for my phone and "unlimited data".

So explain to me what I am stealing. I am paying for internet service and data, twice, to two different companies. So what exactly am I stealing?

Ah my mistake yeah forgot which forum I was on. Can be passed over screaming the unknown court ruleing on a similar situation. But while still reading of people jumping ship on threads before i start to internet rage :)

after this article released does that mean no GB love for us D2G owners. I like to have some GB love before things get worse :icon_ banana:

Because we are not giving the data to other people?

Why is this so hard to understand?

*I* Pay for the inlimited data plan, and *I* occasionally plug my laptop into my phone, and while doing so, always stay about 50% of my total allotted usage for the month.

I am not giving it away to other people, I barely even use it myself.

I was going off your cable box analogies from earlier. Plus how is not getting through to you that is in your contract you cannot tether. That ends any argument you have. You may be making all the best points ever, which you aren't, but because it is in the contract no matter how you justify it you are wrong, end of story.

Exactly. It doesn't matter how fair it is, how right it is, how awesome or uncool it is, it's in your contract, and you agreed to your contract, and when you tether your in violation of your contract. This is not rocket science, and any one arguing otherwise is simply justifying (sorry, weakly attempting to justify) what they know is wrong.

My contract is for an "unlimited" data plan.

And yet, VZW can and will impose limits on bandwidth.

Their contract contradicts itself and is a violation of that contract in spirit, if not in the letter of the law.

please tell me exactly how they impose limits on bandwidth. If you use tethering just don't even respond because like we have said 486 million times to you, it is clearly in the contract you cannot tether.

agreed. I don't think verizon would do anything and risk being sued for commercial fraud

sorry meant to say "use tethering as an example"

game over, man.

this is pretty dissapointing. i mean, i understand... up to a certain point. but it isn't like every single person out there who has rooted is looking to "steal" from their carriers. some people just want to have a lot of fun tweaking and customizing their devices to suit their preferences. i take the stance that most people out there are basically honest and know right from wrong.

at first it sounded corny how i was really looking forward to a future with android phones. now it just sounds niave. what a shame. oh well, move on.

No, it doesn't. Why would you think that, it has nothing at all to do with upgrades from Verion?

The contract you sign is no different than apples. It did not stand against the supreme court and this won't either. No contract like that since has stood against the supreme courts ruleing.
