But there is nothing on that link indicating that it's specific to a user, it's just a plain link. It was reported by Android Anarchy, Central and other Android sites, all over Facebook, Twitter and various forums.
If they did not intend a general release why is the link for the download such a general one rhapsody.com / android / download is going to be found by anyone anytime.
A true beta program requires use of a key or login or something. It doesn't make any sense for sure but when the 2.0.1 release is available days in advance unofficially that they would not know that such an obvious link would be made public in minutes.
Well I helped them there didn't I. Didn't pay attention to the link was just pleased to have the app. Good post on the drm and hardware issue homemade btw.
Just happened across this thread on a slow Friday afternoon at work and couldn't wait to read the whole thing before searching help at Rhapsody and sending them an email.
Now I read till the end and find the app is already public. Being a Rhapsody To Go current customer, this is great news. Truth is, since getting a Droid at the end of November, I haven't used my Zune much. In my car at times, but even then I find myself plugging in the charger and using Pandora. Nice, but NOT the same. Being able to listen to a whole album, artist or such is key.
I'd start asking questions, but I need to get to installing over here!
This is good, very good. For a Beta, I'm really happy with it. Now for the big one, has anyone figured out what sort of bit rate they're streaming? Most of my MP3's are ripped at 190kbps, and they sound pretty good to me. Pandora streamed sounded like crap, but it was convenient......
I'll know if I like it on the way home over the car stereo, just curious.
The app is great, has some ease of use limitations but it's good. The sound quality and selection are excellent.
However personally for me I would not pay $15 per month for this. I already have Rhapsody for my kids so for me it's a bonus. I would pay the extra couple $$ if I had the PC only. For me it's not worth it because I use LaLa, a proxied Spotify and Last.fm when I'm at my desk. In the car I use my iPod or the MP3's downloaded to the Droid. However if you're on the go more than I am it would be worth it. I also want to do everything I can to encourage music subscriptions so they don't fail.
Listened for 30 minutes on the ride home... I had a few times where it seemed like it should have buffered a little more, and when it ran out it just stopped the song and I had to restart.it from the beginning. I also think the music controls (play, pause, etc) should be bigger, and maybe on the top.
Other than that it looks awesome! Artist / Album art comes up when scrolling through the library. Sounds great. Very good use of the GUI to get the experience mobile.
This just made my Droid that much better. I can have over 1 Virtual TB of media server music on my Droid!
I wonder what they could do with a widget? That will be interesting to see and a great thing to have.
I've been a Rhapsody unlimited subscriber for about 3 years now and think they provide an excellent service. So I was really psyched to have it on my droid. Unfortunately, the player hasn't been able to stream anything over 3G, so it's useless in my car.
Hey drummer, a few posts back there was a link
Or you can use http//www.rhapsody.com/android/download
Have to say, I used out on my way home too last night and am still impressed. My issues,
1. Search times, it took forever to load even simple menus.
2. Buffer, it could stand to use a bit more.
3. Searching and organizing of music needs some sort features like genre, etc.
