[ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

This is going to sound really silly, but I seem to have accidentally placed an app over where the app drawer was. How do I get my app drawer back? Swiping up and down does nothing, so...

It seems I'm always messing up the app drawer on this, but I love everything else on this ROM so I really don't want to have to factory reset again. D:

Ahhh, adw and moving that trash bin to the top.....

-Long press open area of home screen (as if to add a widget)
-select "custom shortcut"
-Click "pick your activity"
--Select "Launcher Actions"
----Select "Open/Close App Drawer"
-Click Ok
Now take that new shortcut and move it back over where the launcher button should go.

Done. Repeat next time it happens :). I know it will....

Thanks so much! And it will happen. D:

When I do

su
Messaging -mot

I get three errors saying that essentaily its not there.
Then it says now using motorola messenger?
So I imagine Fab included it some where, just missing that step.

Edit; I backed out and tried messaging -moto and it worked.

I am rather confused on what the zipalign_apks script does. I just ran it and I am not too sire what it does and what I just did lol. By the way how did I get the text message app that was the blur one? Its not the one that you get from running the messaging -mot script. Cause thats not it :/

Guys who are having dialer FC, did you change your LCD density?

The 2.2.1 dialer does NOT like any density but the default, 240.

As for the messaging -mot text message app, the easiest way to tell if it worked is if you app is called "Text Messaging", as opposed to the AOSP app, which is "Messaging"

They have the same icon otherwise...(since I themed the Blur messaging app).

Gmail issues

The biggest issue that I am having is that I keep getting a message about gmail crashing and force quiting the application. The problem is that I don't use gmail (K-9 instead) and from the terminal I did a "email -none" to see if that would get rid of the problem.

Has anyone run into that issue? And more inportantly, does anyone know how to resolve it?

Did you uninstall update before flashing?

I almost broke my phone in half because I had no other icons on the desktop and I couldn't even make a call. Then I remembered I could search for apps. I opened market and downloaded LP again. Back to sanity...

If you're having Gmail FC issues, try going into Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, all, find Gmail, and clear data and cache.

Should fix the FC issues. You'll have to redo your notifications though.

What launcher is everyone using with 1.3? Are you sticking with the built in ADW or switching to Launcher Pro or another launcher? Which seems to run the fastest?

Help!

great work with all this, Fab! I just got my droid X two weeks ago and I'm quickly learning all this rom and flashing gibberish! I have a question though - im running your 1.0.2.2 version of Apex on my 2.3.15 OTA. I'd like to update to your new version of Apex, so I'm going to have to get the new OTA which is available for me to update to, according to my phone. My question is, will my phone still work properly if i get the update for 2.3.340 right now with your 1.0.2.2 running, or do I need to go back to the stock droid x build before updating? thanks!

I would go back to stock as the OTA makes a lot of checks before
upgrading. Re-root, install Koush's Bootstrapper then install Apex 1.3.0
I've been running this since friday and it's the fastest, smoothest and most reliable my X has run since July.

I just went through this today. Here is what I did:

1. Made a Nandroid backup of my current ROM.
2. Located my original stock Nandroid backup (Froyo 2.2) and restored it
3. Updated the .340 update and brought my phone to current state
4. Double checked Kernel, Baseband, Version, etc. with what is current to make sure I upgraded
5. Made a Nandroid backup of my stock .340 build
6. Loaded Apex 1.3.0 from the zip file
7. Wiped Cache / Data (I also did a format of the system and cache, and reinstalled Apex again... but I wanted to make sure I started from scratch, so I re-installed Apex once again after formating the system & cache)
8. Rebooted
9. Verified that the install took and double checked my version numbers on everything.
10. Made a Nandroid backup of my clean Apex 1.3.0 system

Worked great for me. I'm sure it is just a placebo effect, but the phone seems a lot faster and smoother than even when running 1.0.2.2. Not one reboot either!!!!
