[ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

Also Hanford, do I wipe before installing? And will it remove root? Thank you very much.

I installed it in the order they were presented. The baseband (radio) update took a little while - maybe two minutes - just enough time for me to start panicking! But they all completed in the end.

It should go without saying that if you already have ApeX 1.3.0 installed, you do not need to do the 2.3.340 System Updater.

If you're coming from ApeX 1.3, you should not have to wipe data before installing and you will keep root (as you're not touching /system)

just installed this with no problems and it works absolutely brilliant!

Only questions is I'd like to install the stock verizon wifi sharing app. What is the file name of that? I can't find it in the removed apps zip.

I got an android tablet that i connect to the internet through my phone with, however it doesn't pick up the wifi tether root app so i just use the verizon one with the free hack

You can get it through the Team Black Hat app ($1.99 on Market) (AppBrain: TeamBlackHat Download Manager - Android app on AppBrain)

Can I install 1.3 before doing these updates? Or should I wait until after? I am running 1.0.2 now. What do you think would be the best way to update?

Thank you AGAIN so much!

Hey guys, I'm about to do a full reinstall of the ROM and start from scratch using the updated Kernel, etc., that TBH has posted

Could someone please enlighten me on how to properly use the "-zipalign_apks" script?

Should I run that script after I isntall all apps I want on the phone? What are the commands for the script to properly work?

Also, is there an advantage to having the apps isntalled in /data instead of /system?

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

I'm too hungover to read all the support questions right now, I'll get to them in a couple of hours. For now, I have a goodie for you all.

HAAA thats what BL will do you should try BL Wheat its good stuff, the goodies just keep comin your the best! Im loosing sleep cuz your so quick to update everything. You deserve a break! Thanks for the best ROM available.

Dude, BL anything is awful. If you want a good wheat beer at the very least get yourself some Sierra Nevada Hefeweizen or some other craft wheat beer. Bud... yuck. Same thing with Miller/Coors. That swill is not beer. Yes I am a beer snob lol.

Anyway, just did a full wipe/upgrade to .340 just to be safe and all I can say is WOW. This phone is so fast compared to when I got it a month ago running stock 2.3.315 froyo. Also crazy faster than old Apex 1.0 was and any other rom I've yet used.

If you're having problems with media (I.e camera, music, video) its almost certainly because you're not on the correct kernel.

You must have the 320 leak kernel or official 340 kernel to run this rom properly!

You would need to do the updates first as ApeX 1.3 can only be installed on top of Android 2.2.1 and you currently have 2.2.

I don't use Swype. I don't even know how to get to the screen you're describing :(

I just checked swype... everything worked fine as far as swype goes. I also do not use it though. I go way faster on the keyboard and the new GB keyboard is amazatron. Wide keys make my fat fingers happy.

On another topic, if anyone wants to have HDMI and the 3d gallery just run the script to get the blur gallery and then install the 3d gallery .apk with root explorer/astro/whatever. You can rename the blur gallery to Motogallery or HDMIgallery or whatever with root explorer or just remember the 3d gallery will always be second.

I do rarely use HDMI anymore but it is really awesome for family gatherings (used it on Thanksgiving and for sure will on Christmas) when you can load up videos of your, in my case, little girl for all the relatives to see in high definition directly from your phone on a 55" flatscreen. I guess running the script to switch would only take a few seconds tho...

I am having (and have never had) any sort of issues whatsoever with Apex or any tested rom for that matter. I don't know if it is my phone or what but I can say that Apex 1.3 is running 100% on my X. All I can say if you are having issues is to make SURE you are on the correct version of Froyo, try wiping data/cache if you didn't and re-install it again. Let all your apps re-install from the market instead of titanium just to be sure you don't have any corrupt versions.
