[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

Please excuse my newbness to all things Android, but I have a new Droid X, that is rooted and bootsrapped that I used to make a backup of what I believe is everything on the phone. I also have Titanium backup with a full back up. If I flash this ROM will it be reversible with one of these two programs? Does it bring it back to like the new ROM was never installed?

Thank you. I tried to look through the thread for the answers but didnt see anything.

Steve, you're on the right track. The ClockworkMod Recovery backup you created of your stock-rooted-bootstrapped rom will get your phone back to the same condition it was in when the backup was created. I don't use Titanium so can't comment on that one.

Great, thank you.

So, if I am correct, both the new ROM and the old back up can co-exist on the SDcard, and I could theoretically revert to either one I choose using bootstrap?

I also already too the precaution of downloading the Droid X 2.2 SBF in case something really dumb happens. I come from an apple world (No fanboi, just was locked in to ATT) where if you really screw up something its just a simple plug in to itunes away from being all better.

You are correct, sir. Once you get Apex installed and configured to your liking, reboot recovery using the bootstrap app and make another backup. You can view your backups under /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup and they will be listed by date & time they were created.

just wanted to add my 2 cents worth on this rom. i have been running it for several weeks now and it is just awesome. i have absolutely no issues with it at all. one of the best options of this rom is the options you have, add stuff, delete stuff, you're never in a position where you have to go through 10 steps to add something or delete something. from top to bottom this is a great rom Great job Fab you do some really amazing work.

Hey everyone - two questions:

Currently I am running my Droid X on 2.3.9 Froyo with the Black Bar theme. Can I go straight to ApeX from here, or do I need to SBF back to 2.1, ota update, root and install?

Second, does this ROM include the VZW Backup Assistant software? If not is this something that can be obtained from the market?

Thanks!

from everything i have read, its a good thing to be on the newest version, so you cant go wrong with going to 2.2. as far as the rom, the beauty of it is you can go as much bloat as you want or as little as you want, very flexible, stable and extremely fast rom. good luck and i know you wont be disapointed with this rom

Well apparently I got one of those phones that doesn't take kindly to the overclock. Is there a way to set this to stock speeds?

Yes you can turn off the overclock...in terminal emulator...the commands are in the op.

Sorry, should have noticed that before asking!

Managed to get things working smoothly and got Backup Assistant reinstalled and working. One thing I'm missing is the Calendar widget. Any idea which .apk that is?

no worries, its a long thread at this point. as far as the calendar widget i see one in my app drawer but i use the calendar from Launcher Pro Plus. there should be a calendar widget in your app drawer, i just loaded this rom again after an sbf and its there, i just clicked it and it opened up fine.

The Calendar app is there, but there is actually a homescreen widget that displays calendar entries - that is what I was wondering about.

After talking to the Fab it appears that it's broken. I ended up getting "Pure Calendar" off the market per a few suggestions. So far I like that a lot better than the widget that is missing.

Now the next task is to see if I can track down the "Dark Vanilla Lockscreen Mod" by WJD. The page it's supposed to be on is not loading at this time.

Hey could anyone tell me whether there is an issue with using setcpu app with this rom I have this rom already instlled with setcpu already running and no prob as of yet. Just wondering
