How to go from Liberty 2.0.1 to LGB 0.8

Dude there are a bunch of posts on this. Did you read the threads? No offense, but im just saying. If you're on the gb leak, just dl the newest nightly. Go into clockwork and wipe data, then flash the nightly (it will be in liberty/nightlies folder.

Oh stop it.

How to go from Liberty 2.0.1 to LGB:

What you'll need (google these if you don't have/can't find them):
1. z4root.1.3.0.apk
2. Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap v1.0.0.3.apk (Note the Droid 2, not Droid X.)
3. RSD Lite 4.9
4. VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.sbf
5. TBH's 2-part Rooted GB .596 (You'll find these here: http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/d...-everyone.html - find File Part 1 and File Part 2.)
6. Liberty GB 0.8
7. --A 100% CHARGED BATTERY.--

1. Copy the apk files, TBH zips and Liberty 0.8 to your SD card.
2. Install RSD Lite 4.9 on your PC (Windows only. If you don't have Windows, let us know.)
3. Put your phone in bootloader mode by turning it off then holding down volume down + camera button + power until you see white text on black background. (You might have to release after a few seconds and click the power button once really quickly to get the screen to come up.)
4. Connect your phone to your computer via USB.
5. Run RSD Lite 4.9.
6. Select your phone (it's the only item in the table), then select ... to choose the SBF file you downloaded, then click Start. Wait for your phone to reboot.
-- Problems: 1. If your phone doesn't show up in RSD Lite, let us know. 2. Your phone may get stuck in a boot loop. If it does, hold down the home key to get into stock recovery then wipe data/factory reset. If your phone gets to this point, the SBF was successful whether RSD Lite tells you it was or not.
7. Don't activate your phone. Press the 4 corners of the screen from the top left clockwise (bottom corners ABOVE the on-screen buttons) to skip activation.
8. Enable unknown sources in applications and USB Debugging in applications->development
9. Install and run z4 Root, should reboot your phone. If it doesn't do it yourself.
10. Install Droid 2 Bootstrap, then Bootstrap Recovery, then Reboot Recovery. Phone should reboot into clockwork mod.
11. Install Part 1 of TBH's rooted GB, then Part 2, then LGB 0.8.
12. Wipe data/factory reset.

That ought to do it. :-)

Haha, i had just written the exact process in 2 other threads. Enabling is not helping, remember that. I suppose I was just being grumpy though.

As many time as they can ask, I can copy & paste. :-)

I know what it's like to have to search through these forums. It ain't no Google, and a lot of people wouldn't know good keywords to use, and even if they did, a lot of the helpful posts don't use those good keywords. It's the nature of a forum. Nuttin' but trouble!

And if I asked a question I would hope someone would just answer it instead of telling me to go look it up. My brother and sister did that to me all the time when I was young and I hated it. :)

Listen I talk to at least 3 new people a day from these forums, walking them through sbf or roms etc.. i dont mind helping. I could understand if someone was a noob, but if you can get on liberty 2.0.1, using z4, bootstrap, clockwork etc, you have enough experience to know how to look up something on google or youtube or here, that's all. It's just lazy. But, if you can just copy and paste, then that's easy so thanks.
Also, there is detailed install instructions just like the ones you posted above half way down the first page of this thread! I just wished people put a little more energy into search.

At the risk of getting everyone fired up again, I flashed Liberty .8 yesterday and my phone was a mess. I did wipe all data like it said but the truth is I don't have hours to set my phone back up again. I was able to reload the backup from clockworkmod and get back to Liberty .7 with everything back to normal so it's all good now. I know it's a stupid question so bear with me, please, but even if I use Titanium to save my apps and data, does this not just cause trouble with v.8? My phone is my only phone, no land line, so I can't be out of action too long. Is there any way to wipe data but put the phone back into order quickly?

0. Copy the Titanium Backup APK to your SD Card
1. Backup all of your apps and their data using Titanium Backup
2. Backup ADW settings through the Backup and Restore in ADW Settings menu (if you use ADW)
3. Flash .8
4. Enable unknown sources in apps
5. Install Titanium Backup
6. Restore your market apps one by one (annoying I know but it only takes like 10 mins, and I have a ton of apps) As long as they are NOT system apps, you can restore app + data. DO NOT restore system apps
7. Restore ADW settings

If you use Smart Shortcuts, you can back those up and reload them on the other side as well.

I should also say that if you have a lot of apps, it's WAY faster to restore your apps from Titanium Backup one by one than it is to download them all from the market again. That's my biggest pet peeve. When I install a new ROM, and I go to download Liberty Toolbox or something, what I get for opening the market is 100+ apps all trying to download at the same time. So don't open the market until after you've restored your apps. :-)

You can open the market, just uncheck the box that says restore from google acct during the setup process. Also in titanium, you can go to batch restore and choose from a list which apps you want. Then click OK and it does it all at once. Quicker than doing it one by one, plus you can just restore the app, data or app+data

Haven't seen this error message here yet, atleast that I can find, but when I tried to install the GB leak last night I got install aborted error. I used D2 bootstrap, booted into recovery, did my wipe, and then tried to install the first of the 2 files and then the error came up.

I did not wipe dalvik cache though, could that be the problem?

I was able restore 2.0.1 since I was still in recovery mode.

Option 1 not working for me lol 5 dollars I really make the donation haha but well I have it! love it manual install =D thanks for the rom
