[ROM] Rumm Rx v1.0 - First dose of awesomeness ;)

How to have all your apps installed on first install:

1) Make a folder on your sdcard in /sdcard/rumm_rx/restore_apps

2) Place all your apps in that directory and install the ROM

reboot

Call me slow, but how and where do you move the apps from???

thanks

I was wondering the same thing.

Oh and this rom is running amazing for me so far. I had a few issues with power amp but fixed those with build props. I played with my calendar and did not see any fc's

They are in /data/app (not on your SD card, unless you put hem there that is)

Here's a fix for the FC's that occur when trying to add a new calendar event:

1. Download BlurEmailEngine.apk to your sdcard.

3. Copy BlurEmailEngine.apk to /system/app (this will require making /system/app writable. In Root Explorer just press the R/W key when you're exploring /system/app).

4. You now need to change the app's permissions. In Root Explorer, long press on the app (in /system/app) and click on "permissions". Then make sure that only the following boxes are clicked: User Read, User Write, Group Read, Others Read.

5. Make sure you make /system/app read only again by clicking that box in the top right while you're exploring the folder.

6. Reboot phone.

You can now add new calendar events without getting FC's.

If you are having problems loading new events into your calendar this works great.

How do I know if I even have 2.3.1.5 or whatever it is. I have had my x since it came out. I was on 2.1 and rooted. Installed rom manager. When the 2.2 came out I updated from there but have never updated again. Running rubix 1.8.6 . Just not sure if I'm 2.3.1.5 or older.
Help. Lol

If you follow instructions in first post that the newer leak.

Thank you. I wanna stay where I'm at right now just really wanted to know where I stood. Thanks again.

I don't know...I didn't download this yesterday because when I read his OP it was relatively clear to me that this would bring me to the leak version. Maybe people just read it too fast in there excitement and missed it (so not likely all Jrummys fault here)...in any event I'm sorry for all those who did have problems. There is a leak SBF available so make sure you get it...it will likely save you some cash if you run into trouble. And above all dont go to any ROM that uses 2.3.15 anymore. There are only a couple of ROMs that use the leak so you still have options (Rubix (get the correct version, tranquility 3.5(i think that is the right one), and the new Apex, I dont know about Fission) It looks like the install instructions have changed since yesterday and it is nice and clear now. Again, truly sorry for people who had problems =( and I hope this helps some of you avoid issues going forward.

No....freaking....way. I have been flashing ROMs for years and I read through that OP 2X over before beginning the install and then I followed it line by line as I flashed it. No where does it tell you that the 11.9mb miscellaneous update file is actually the equivalent of updating to the TBH 130mb leak that permanently updates your bootloader and system....

Note: It has been briefly tested to still work without installing the leak (updating boot loader, etc.) but try this at your own risk and post back results.

Thats ^ EXACTLY what I thought I was doing and I followed the instructions line by line after that header for installing the ROM if you are not on the leak. Trust me when I say if I wanted to flash the leak I would have done the full leak by myself, on my terms and then looked for a ROM to flash later. This is the only ROM I have seen that bamboozles you into flashing the leak with no warning whatsoever.

JRummy really needs to put a warning in the install instructions telling users what that miscellaneous file actually does because it was a big surprise to me.

Am I upset? Yeah, I am a little bit burnt. But you will also notice I have been one of the main supporters in this thread because I am trying to make the best of the situation and this ROM is actually pretty good. JRummy has my personal thanks for the immense amount of work that went into this beautiful piece of art.

No swype. Batch restores work fine for me. As long as you are not restoring system app or data it should be fine.

GMB

I tried installing just my apps and their data but my phone rebooted over and over again.

Stupid question but are you positive none of them were system apps? I never backup or restore system apps or data regardless of what Rom I am coming from or flashing to.

GMB

I am pretty sure cause I hit the option Restore missing apps with data and it rebooted. I also tried doing just one app that I downloaded and it rebooted as well.

Love this rom so far, it just feels right using rummys rom when I was using all his other tools in the first place. The calendar fix was much appreciated, and i prefer winamp to poweramp anyway (been using winamp on pc since 1996, just too much brand loyalty there).

I do however GREATLY miss swype, has anyone tried installing the D1 beta into this ROM yet?

Also, we need to get a nice revolution theme for this rom, all this whiteness is hurting my eyes.

Besides swype and theme though, couldn't be much happier with this ROM.

So, changing the bootloader...does that mean when Gingerbread comes out it won't be possible to get it?

Well, you can't go back (yet (TBH is "working on it")).
And considering the OTA patches.. are just that, patches.. (they verify you have the correct files, and if you do, then they modify them, not replace them)..

IF the OTA isn't the same as the LEAK, then you can't go forward either (TBH has assured everyone repeatedly that the OTA coming for the DroidX IS indeed the same as 2.3.320 leak).

Only time will tell.. great question though!

Swype is loaded on the ROM. Go to Settings/Keyboard/ and check the Swype box

Two quick problems:

1. I keep getting a FC on Google framework. Anybody else have this problem? (Update: Seems to have been solved by rebooting)

2. My exchange account keeps asking for updated security permissions, even though I granted them when I created the account.

Thanks in advance.

Holy crap, i was getting spoiled in the other X roms by just selecting the input meathod. Thanks.

Now, if you could kindly point me in the direction of some themes.....

Sounds like too many people flashing Roms that really have no place doing so. This is best Rom made so far. No force closes fast and love the options. New TBH leak is awesome as well. Please don't flash roms if you have no idea what you're doing and then whine when you jack up your phone. Thanks again Jrummy im loving it.

I wasn't singling anyone out or blaming anyone. This was just my opinion and my experience and tried to give some other helpful information. Maybe it wasn't clear...i know I wasn't sure so I didn't do anything and when I got no reply to my question I didn't try it. So, sorry you are butt hurt, so direct your rant at Rummy if you feel that way and not me.

I would love to be able to point you in the direction of some themes, hopefully we wont have to wait to long. LOVING this rom so far, glad I also dove into the leak (no issues).
