Pull out the battery wait for >5 mins, power up, you should go back bootstrap recovery. rubix 1.6 and 1.0 is very different so you should wipe system/data/cache, mount system/data then install rubix 1.6 (I know the whole thing is not necessary but I do it just to be on safer side). You can always restore the user apps from previous backup using titanium.

I've pulled the battery for more than 5 min but it doesn't go into bootstrap. Am I doing it wrong?

Just for the heck of it, leave the battery pulled out for >10-15 mins. If that doesnt work, then m afraid you'll have to sbf. there are several sites with sbf info. I guess there is sticky topic on this forum too.

Isn't there a way to get to bootstrap by holding in the side volume key and the power button when starting up?

Thats a way to get in stock recovery or bootloader. I dunno any such combination for bootstrapper recovery

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but when you edit a contact and press the menu button is "Join" not what you're looking for?

Does anyone how to change the font through root explorer. I need bolder or larger font.

Download "Type Fresh" from the market. It allows you to change the font. I'm using "Comfortaa Regular" which can be found with a google search. Download the font you want and put place it in the folder labeled "Fonts" on your SD card. Then open Type Fresh and click DroidSans.ttf and choose the font you want from the list then hit menu then "Apply Fonts" and reboot. Hope that helps.

Downloaded and tried. Stuck at M after reboot. What now?

You can wipe data and cache by going into the stock recovery they're talking about. When you put the battery back in, hold the HOME button, keep it held till you see the M logo. When you see the droid logo with the ! in a triangle, hit the search button to get to the menu. From there, wipe data, wipe cache, and reboot.

I've already tried that. Still just the Rubix animation

To .sbf, hold vol.down, camera button, while booting. Will take you to the bootloader (a text screen).. THEN do the .sbf in RSD Lite.

I'm not sure what would cause you to get stuck at the M logo. I've changed the font at least 12 times using this method. I would try the battery pull for 5 minutes and then you should be able to get into bootstrap recovery. Then just reflash focused 1.6.

Slightly related, but is wiping data and cache equal to a factory reset?

Reason I ask is because when I was stuck on the Rubix logo a factory reset cleared it up for me.

I touch the android, he turns white, but nothing happens!

Any ideas?

Edit: the power button and menu key work. the menu key has "wireless settings"

also it says im roaming

Ummm, did you install the correct ROM to your device? Are you sure you used a Droid X sbf file.
