rubiX Focused 1.6

So I just switched from ApeX to RubiX and I really like this ROM. Seems to be a little snappier, and I love the 10% battery increments.

There's only two problems I've noticed with this ROM:

1) The multitouch keyboard is not included, so it doesn't have the speech to text option for texting, Gtalk, etc.

2) I've already read some others having this problem with Gmail not syncing properly. I know people are saying this is a Google/Gmail/Android issue, but I never had this problem with the stock Froyo build or the ApeX ROM.

Great job on the ROM, hopefully these things can be addressed in the next update. :D

1) Multi-Touch kbd: http://www.sephtin.com/rubiX/rubixFocused-PATCH-DefaultFocusedKeyboard.zip

2) Sync is not checked by default.
Menu> Accounts> Your google account, make sure "Sync Gmail" is checked.

If that's not it:
Did you restore from backup? That's usually the cause of this, I believe.
2 things to try: wipe data/cache for the gmail app
Menu> Settings> Applications> Manage Applications> all tab> Gmail>
force stop, wipe data, wipe cache.

If that doesn't work, uninstalling, and reinstalling the gmail app has been reported to work.

Let us know if that doesn't solve the issue(s).

Thanks for the link to the MT Keyboard.

The fix you suggested of clearing data/cache from the app seems to have done the trick.

Thanks! :D

For some reason my Google Maps wasn't giving me the Navigation option like it used to. I uninstalled it, and when I download it from the Market it gets to 100% download but never installs. I'm rebooting my phone now and see if that works. EDIT: Reboot seems to have done the trick. :D

Car Home (beta) looks much cooler than the stock app. Just downloaded it and installed it. I'll try it out on my way home. Thanks!

Font Size

Hi, I've been through this forum a couple of times and I couldn't find a solution to changing the font SIZE. I know how to change the font but all I want is to get the Spare Parts font size working. Thx, love this rom btw.

Hmm, couple things to try (my regard to the search button at the top of the thread... ;) heh)

Suggestion to try Font Changer from market:

Suggestion to try Type Fresh:

I've never tried changing fonts, or size, or (?).. :( GL!!

I've tried both of those and they both don't change font size, just font. Anyone have any luck with this?

I just wanted to see that this Rom is lightning fast.. like super fast. It also seems to take better pictures and it views the pictures at a higher quality..

Just one last question when installing I followed an online tutorial and I did the unmount system before installing the zip..

I'm assuming that the system was remounted during the boot process but can I get clarification on that? Or do I have to do it manually?

You shouldn't have to mount/unmount the system anymore. The zip does it for you.

Just for curiosity sake... ;) Which online tutorial? the only tutorial you need for Focused, is the first post of this thread. :p Always follow the instructions of the developer of the ROM you intend to use, not a generic tutorial.. at least, as a suggestion. :)

Now, to answer your question.
The install doesn't care if you mount it or not, it *should* format it, and mount it, do the install.. once that's done, doesn't matter if you mount it or not...
And your second question, every time you reboot your phone, system will re-mount it self during the boot process... so you should be fine....

HTH!

It was a tutorial of someone installing ZapX Rom on a Droid X.. I wanted to see some visuals since I didn't really know what I was dealing with

:(

Also is your Blackbar Mod for a black notification bar? That would probably be pretty sexyy how would I go about installing that..

Yep. Black notification bar (and of course, some icon changes to correct them for the black bar, otherwise, they'd look awfully funny)...
If you want to compare it to the existing bar (etc.) on your phone.. just check the screen shots in the post on my site:
http://www.sephtin.com

Installation:
Grab the bar from the post here:
sephtin’s BlackBar mod for Focused 1.6 v2.1 -- sephtin.com

Then (This is from memory, so might not be "perfect"... should be self-explanatory though):
--Copy it to the root of your SDCard (by root, I just mean not in a directory).
--Open the Droid X Bootstrapper app
--Press Bootstrap Recovery (Might not be necessary, but won't hurt, just in case).
--Press Reboot Recovery
--From the menu, choose Install .zip from SDCard
--From Menu, choose Select .zip from SDCard
--Scroll to and select the .zip file (rubiXFocused1.6BlacBarMod-Sephtin-v2.1.zip)
--Scroll to and select Yes (you'll know which one. ;)
--When it says it's complete, hit the back button on the phone, and select "Reboot Now".

That should do it.
Enjoy!

So I don't have to clear anything this time.. and would making a backup of the Rubix I am running now be necessary?

No need to clear anything this time. It's just a patch (only changing 2 files, actually).

And what a great question!!!
I always recommend backups! Especially a backup of a new ROM loaded on your phone.. so IF something ever goes wrong, you always have a starting point to go back to, just in case! :)

Probably not necessary for a patch as small as this, but always better to have too many backups, than not enough.. ;) heh
