rubiX Focused 1.6

Hmm. I'm not sure my recent changes went as flawlessly as I originally thought. I used metamorph to change some notification icons and I'm not sure if or how these anomalies are related:

Widgets seem to load slower than normal, visibly taking a couple seconds after turning to a home screen to load.

Twice now when my brother has called me it rang but then there was noone on the phone. I could gear only myself. Upon him immediately calling me back I was able to answer the call just fine.

In gmail, when I hit the back button it no longer takes me back to my inbox but instead just reloads the email I'm reading.

My battery is lasting at least twice as long as it used to. After 10 hours, it is at 60% and only just got there.

Is there any possibility that these symptoms, good, bad, or otherwise, resulted from changing notification icons?

Just an update so people don't get scared of customizing... My problems were unrelated to my changes. Or those changes anyway. My problems were actually because I set Spare Parts to aggressive memory management. Do NOT do this with this ROM!

Anyway, Sephtin poured through my changes for me and ensured me they only changed images. After changing Spare Parts back to Normal, everything is great!

For those of you using Sephtin's black bar mod, I have different colored Androids for the drop down menu.

(I also have a purple one I made the other day for a user at XDA that's not on this preview)

Does anyone have the Fission .zip file to add "reboot" to the power button menu? It works great on Focused, but I accidentally deleted it and it's no long on the Fission page as it's been integrated into the ROM.

Thanks in advance!

If you run across it, please post or PM... would love to see which file(s) it changes.

Thanks!

Found it! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/77158/D2_Reboot.zip

Can someone please confirm that this will work on this ROM before I decide to try it out?

Thanks

I can absolutely confirm that this adds the "reboot" option to the power button menu. Just install via bootstrap recovery.

I believe they can be added via one of the morph programs?
It can be done manually (advanced users only) via opening the framework-res.apk in winrar or 7zip and just replacing the res/drawable-hdpi/background(something).png :)

BTW, thank you hacku.. I did mention you in my post for the bar.. as it's your droid that I used.. I love it, and wanted to re-use.. apologies for not getting permission first. :S (The mod was originally made for me, not for public release.. but *shrug*.. then someone was asking for a black bar mod, and it kinda went from there. :P

Anyway.. thanks again!

Now.. If only there was an EASY way to script replacing files inside of a .zip file, within a .zip file... You could give lots of choices.... :) (I know the morph program does it.. just haven't figured out how... :S

No problem. Any of this stuff is free to share with anyone. Don't need my permission. ;)

And here's how it's done:

1. Download & install Stericson's NinjaMorph from the Market
2. Place your desired Droid image on your SDcard and rename it to status_bar_background.png (doesn't matter where you put it)
3. Launch NinjaMorph and click tap on New Project
4. Go to /system/framework/framework-res.apk (Files will get extracted and a backup is created automatically)
5. Go into /res/drawable-hdpi and find status_bar_background.png
6. Tap on the file and it will now ask you to find the image you want to replace it with
7. Find the file you placed on your SDcard and tap on it
8. You will get a warning asking if you're really sure you want to replace it (Tap Yes)
9. Tap on the blue arrow on the bottom right corner
10. Tap on Finish Project
11. Tap on framework-resapk (NinjaMorph will now package/create the apk)
12. You will get a warning asking if you're sure you want to overwrite the apk (Tap Yes)
13. You will now get a warning asking if you want to zipalign (I chose no)
14. Tap ok on the next warning
15. Choose if you want to delete the project

Here's the links to the different colored Androids:

(Click on thumbnail and download the full image...don't forget to rename it)

I can also confirm that it adds the reboot option to the menu.
I cannot however confirm what side-affects, or issues will arise by replacing the existing services.jar framework file, with the one that adds the reboot option.

If you start having problems, first thing to try is to put back the stock system/framework/services.jar that this mod replaces.

Edit: Sorry for sounding over-paranoid... But, rather than someone "providing the patch" in the form of a mysterious framework file fo unknown origins.. I guess I'd just much rather have the method of changing/creating the patch using the existing FOCUSED framework file(s). Considering that it's from Fab, it was most certainly derived from a copy of BLUR services.jar, not Focused/Fission derived... which makes me a little leary as to what ill effects it could cause.

Nothing against the mod, or Fab (who is awesome btw).. just me being paranoid. :)

It's a fair point, sephtin, but IIRC the mod was a minipatch for Fission RC2, so I imagine it's based on the Fission .jar.

In any case, I haven't noticed any problems.

GAH! Note to self, caffeine before doing anything on forums... *sigh*

I got this mod mixed up with Fab's remove clock mod on the blackjuice thread. :S Sorry.. please disregard. ...

No worries. You're hugely helpful around here, and there's no harm in the occasional "be careful what sh_t you install" warning/reminder.

I just wand to say thank you to everyone who has posted thier fixes for any issue that they have had with this rom after install. I read all of these post on this ROM, it has taken a few days to read all of them!!

Sephin you are just an amazing person for all of your hard work that you have been giving to everyone here, and the other sites you have been helping others with there issues!!!!

I have not yet installed a rom on my Droid X, but it is rooted!!!! I just need to get it done. Already have Rubix 1.6 on the root of my SD card to install it.

I use my phone for work everyday so I just need to make sure all goes well after the ROM is installed,

Does corporate sync work after this ROM is installed? I need my email because this is how I answer my emails. So it needs to work.

It also looks like you should download all of your app's one at a time once you have installed youe ROM?

Also it looks like the NAV system is working just fine from what I have read, Also a must for me for travel.

I know I have posted a lot for my first post, and I hope this is ok to ask questions like this in the fourm. :)

Again to everyone that has help all of first time Rom installers, you have been outstanding!!!:):):)
