This ran flawlessly for six days, but today my battery usage took a turn for the worse. I didn't do anything different or add any new apps (some apps were updated automatically today as usual). I guess it could just be a one day blip, but my battery power was substantially worse today. I got three hours out of a full charge without placing a single call, and limited web/email use.

This could be due to alot of different things....I would reboot, maybe clear cache and see if it persists.

Its really quite simple. Just follow the steps in the OP. You have almost nothing to worry about.

PS- I hate video tutorials :icon_eek:

O.o WOW, that low?
Only thing I've got, is a collection of "stuff" that is supposed to help... and a way to completely reload, that seems to help most people:
Focused 1.x Battery issues- Please Read — sephtin.com

You could use something like watchdog lite to monitor for processes that are heavily taxing on CPU, etc. ?
I'm just at a loss.. Let us know what things are like the next few days please!

I just wand to say thank you to everyone who has posted thier fixes for any issue that they have had with this rom after install. I read all of these post on this ROM, it has taken a few days to read all of them!!

Sephin you are just an amazing person for all of your hard work that you have been giving to everyone here, and the other sites you have been helping others with there issues!!!!

I have not yet installed a rom on my Droid X, but it is rooted!!!! I just need to get it done. Already have Rubix 1.6 on the root of my SD card to install it.

I use my phone for work everyday so I just need to make sure all goes well after the ROM is installed,

Does corporate sync work after this ROM is installed? I need my email because this is how I answer my emails. So it needs to work.

It also looks like you should download all of your app's one at a time once you have installed youe ROM?

Also it looks like the NAV system is working just fine from what I have read, Also a must for me for travel.

I know I have posted a lot for my first post, and I hope this is ok to ask questions like this in the fourm. :)

Again to everyone that has help all of first time Rom installers, you have been outstanding!!!:):):)

Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate the work that Drod has done.. and since I'm an out of work Sys-Admin with a new son... Finances aren't in a place I can offer monetary donation to drod and the community for their hard work, but I have time... So helping others is my way of giving back right now!

And you should ALWAYS ask questions, if you're not sure about something. Everyone that has a ROM installed has been there at one point... ask away!
The good news, is there isn't much that you can do, that you can't back out of on the phone by going through the .sbf process to return it to the "out of the box" state of the phone... (while that process isn't exactly pleasant... it works, and works well!).

I know some of your questions were answered, but .. easier this way...

As said before, Excahnge sync DOES work, but moving emails once read, searching emails, searching the GAL, and signatures not being applied to replies, only new messages I think are the known issues (limitations actually.. of the AOSP Email app that's currently used) for Focused.

When you install a ROM, Google Data Sync will reinstall all of your apps for you. You won't get your settings back, unless you use a backup program to restore a backup.. but use caution, it has been shown that restores can break things, so I simply recommend that if you have the extra few minutes, you set things up again to your liking...
For Google Data Sync to work.. the first time you open the market, give yourself some time.. don't reboot, and try not to interrupt connection to the internet (switching between wifi/3g, etc.), because sometimes this has been shown to cause the market app to stall while downloading... Best thing you can do, is to enable WiFi before you open Market for the first time... it will go much faster. This **should** get you all of your apps back. Just in case something does go wrong, I highly recommend the appbrain app (more info at appbrain.com) that syncs your applications with the appbrain site, that way, if something is missed, it'll get it right back.

Nav works great, just need to install Google Maps from the market for the google navigation. Other google apps that you may miss (not included in the ROM), are google search, voice search, etc. those are the big ones I think...

I don't know of a good video that is Focused specific... and every ROM has slightly different procedures... Feel free to watch YouTube to check out some of the installation procedures, but know that they may differ from the way this ROM is installed... the best thing to do is to follow the instructions on the first page, and ask questions wherever necessary. :)

For contacts... It depends on where those contacts were held. The MotoBlur "way", was to ""link"" contacts *sigh*, meaning, that you could have contacts from Google, Facebook, and your phone (which was sync'd via BackUp Assistant (BUA)), all in one place, but syncing with different places. The google ones will continue to sync when you enter your google account. IF you want your facebook contacts back, the Facebook app from market will give you the option to sync those contacts with your contacts on the phone, and for the Phone contacts, that were sync'd with BackUp Assistant, the best way is to save yourself the headaches, and just get them moved over to Google Contacts. Quick how-to on how to do that here:
Migrating contacts from "Phone" (BackUp Assistant), to Google Contacts

Hope that helps! Enjoy Focused!!!

What a GREAT job in your answer to my questions!!!

We are lucky to have you here helping us!!

So sounds like the best way to reinstall our app's is to login into appbrain and install that way, sound like if we reinstall thru a backup program that it can install issues that don't mix well with the ROM's?

So I will do as you are saying to them, which makes a lot of sense to me,

Also when we boot into bootstrap recovery (bootstrap for Droid X) is that when we should wipe everything clean before installing this ROM? data\ect?

Again thanks for all of your help

I have also done a full back up of my system the it is now with bootstrap recovery, and then went into Titanium Back up for my programs that are on my phone now. I also have the Rubix 1.6 on my SD card. I do not have it in a folder, just right on the SD card so when I go into the Sd card I see the zip file right on there and do not have open any files folders to see it. is this the right way?

Is this right so far. or should of I done something else to insure the right steps before I load this rom?

Sorry for all of the questions, But after you read so many post it can become very confusing.:)

Again thanks for your help..:)

Took the plunge, rooted my X and installed rubix 1.6. Everything is pretty much fantastic!

One odd problem I seem to be having is that my Gmail doesn't update with new mail. I have to manually refresh to get new mail. Am I the only one with this problem??

Edit: N/m. Figured it out by SEARCHING THE THREAD! My bad, guys. Man, I look noobish.

Amazing ROM, nonetheless!

What did you do to fix it?

Not noobish at all! It's a great question! Then regardless, you redeem yourself anyway! ;)

Honestly, I have to say this.. especially when a thread gets to be almost 100 pages long.. O.o
The "Search This Thread" button near the top of the thread is an ADVANCED FEATURE...

So.. to those unspoken many.. who are wise in the search-fu... we salute you!

Always glad to help!

Appbrain is really only for those apps that Google Data Sync misses, if any. When you load the ROM, connect to WiFi (if applicable), and then open the Market app. The first time you open Market.. It will start to re-install your apps in the background (It won't show in the notification bar at all until it finishes.. it'll say something like "31 of 32 apps restored", or whatever...
You can see that it's working, if you search for an app that you previously had installed.. it's market page will say "downloading", and look like it's stalled.. that's normal, it's in queue to be downloaded and installed. :)

Bootstrap recovery (Droid X Bootstrapper app) backup.. is often referred to as a nandroid backup.. yes. So you've got that.. so you should be good to go back to it if you ever need it, that's great. Titanium backup.. IF for some reason you need it... but again, the programs should come back with Google Data Sync, and/or Appbrain..

Sounds like you have the .zip file on your SDCard in the right place, yep.

Sounds like you're on the right track! GL! Let us know if you have any troubles with the install!
Wifi is nice, as it makes it go faster.

Anyone know a workaround to set speed dial numbers for contacts?
Or since the bug is there, it's not possible at all to configure the numbers?
