rubiX Focused 1.8.9/1.9.3

Live Folders - are they part of Blur?

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I have searched around and have not found an answer. I tried to enable a folder for Pageonce on my home screen but I get a message that Live Folders are disabled. I searched settings and did not see anything to enable them so I am assuming they need blur. Is that correct or am I missing something?

I am running 1.8.9 Focused --

So I was one of the lucky ones that bricked my phone trying to install leak and was stuck in bootloader. So now getting replacement in the mail and starting from scratch. So I have a few questions for everyone. Do the new X's come with 2.2? What program is the best for rooting? I had my prior phone set up so trying to remember if there is anything else I am missing before install. Thanks for the info!

Quick question: Can we change the boot animation through root explorer? I thought I read someone having issues on v1.6 just want to see if anyone has done it yet? I'm on the new Leak and v1.9.3

I had no problems using Root Explorer to change the boot animation on 1.8.9. (non-leak.)

First off.. I wanted to say thanks to all the guys providing info on this board, and to septin. Your black bar mod is awesome, and i've now used it on what seems like 10 versions of Rubix.

I have a question about whether or not I should consider switching over to the leaked rom and updated to 1.9.3. I'm currently on 1.8.9 and its running smooth.

I've read the thread about the leaked rom, and the potential issues (i'm not sure if they have a valid SBF for recovery or not yet though), and i'm willing to accept those risks, but I don't understand for sure if those changes on the new leak mean anything after updating to rubiX.

I'm not sure how to put this technically, but my question is basically:

Do any of the benefits of the leaked SBF still exist or function after updating to rubiX 1.9.3?

Or even more simply:

Is a perfectly installed (no install issues) 1.9.3 better than 1.8.9 in any ways?

I know there has been discussion about installing these and the issues, etc... but has anybody done a pro/con ?

Very sorry if I missed something about this...

The only difference between 1.9.3 and 1.8.9 is that 1.9.3 is compatible with the leak. You would also get the added benefits of the leak, but that's got nothing to do with this ROM.

My personal opinion is to stay away from the leaked OTA. Personally, I think the risks of totally hosing your phone without a full and true safety net (a full .sbf) are far too great for the relatively minimal improvements the leak seems to offer. I'm happy to wait for Moto/VZW to release the official OTA.

Currently, the OTA thread has ground to an utter halt as people are stuck with broken boot-loaders without access even to the system-only .sbf, which Motorola has supposedly pulled from the internet.

Just my $.02.

Little to no bug fixes in this version. Mostly for battery life and performance tweaks. Bug fixes will be concentrated on in the next version. HDMI still broken, 3g hotspot still doesn't work

What about the fact that it shows incorrect system info for version.

wow... you really want to bring that up again? come on, its nothing. if you really care, go in the build.prop and change it.

why is everyone making such a big deal about the rom version?

Pull the battery. Put the battery back in. Hold down the "home" button while holding down the "power" button to boot into stock recovery. Release the "home" button and press the "search" button when the large yellow exclamation point symbol with the little green Android logo appears. Use the stock recovery to wipe your cache, then wipe your data, then reboot. You should be right as rain.

Let us know if this gets you back up and running.

for those who want the OLD Transitions back without applying a theme:

this worked for me....i downloaded both 1.8.6 and 1.8.9. then i copied the framework from 1.8.6 and overwrote (pasted) the framework in the 1.8.9 zip file. i then reflashed 1.8.9 on my phone without a wipe. now i have the old transitions working with launcher pro

If you do this, you may take a slight performance hit, as your framework will no longer be zipaligned.

Stock framework files available here:
Info for themers: Changes between framework between Focused 1.6, 1.8.6, and 1.8.9 — sephtin.com

hmm well it seems to be running awesome at the moment. il see if it affects my phone. wasnt 1.8.6 zipaligned also?

Some people -- namely, people who can't be bothered to flip through the thread -- get freaked out that they flashed the wrong ROM (or the ROM wrong) when the system info doesn't mesh with their expectations. I don't think there's anything wrong with being alarmed by this, but I do think there's something less-than-noble about asking a question that has been answered repeatedly in the thread. (Though I wouldn't mind it if Drod/Seph would add a note about this to the front page to abort a few people from asking this question.)
